This song is about... my own life experience. From the age of 18, I wasn’t living a good life. I was involved in a lot of trouble and crime. Because foolishly back then I thought it was cool to be involved in that sort of life. It was like I couldn’t tell the difference between right and wrong.
Well..... I did, but just didn’t care. I was on the wrong road in life. Back then I thought I was living the high life, loads of cash, friends etc. But one day at age 23, it all came to a head. I got caught for something I couldn’t walk away from nor talk my way out of.
This is where the song comes in. It’s basically about waking up one morning with my whole life changed. I lost everything I had. Rightly so, as it was ill gotten gains. But basically I got four years in prison for my crimes. All the so called friends I had were no where to be seen. Basically the song is really saying, living that life doesn’t pay, that you only end up in a worse place than you started. Thankfully I’m away from that life now for years and don’t intend going back. It took me a long time to gain the trust of my family and real friends again.
I’ve done a lot of things I’m not proud of but I was giving a chance to change and I took it with both hands.
I don’t want people to think that I’m some kind of low life but basically back in my late teens, early 20’s I wasn’t a good person but deep down inside, perhaps before I went to prison, I was looking for a way out.
I think most of my songs that I first wrote and recorded are basically a way for me to tell my story. I do feel guilty for the way I was and I suppose my music is giving me a chance to explain some of the reason for my actions, so this music is a story that needs to be told for my sanity.
I certainly have alot of things to write about. I have paranoid schizophrenia, acute anxiety and panic disorder sprinkled in with the occasional depression. lol.
How do you think this release represents your current direction?
To be honest I don’t think it really represents my exact direction. I think it was a story that just had to be told. Maybe for my own gratification I suppose. As I’m just starting out really, I don’t have a direction as such. I think when I’m a year into releasing and writing, I will have more of a scene of where I want the music to go.
For years of putting up a hard exterior, I still find it a small bit hard to show my true self. It’s just something I’m going to have to learn over time. All I can say is that I hope just to make music that people can relate to. Like the music I listen to from various musicians, lately I have being messing around with different styles.
Just the other night I wrote a kind of rap song. Now, if I do anything with it that is another matter. I just like to experiment sometimes with the music I’m creating. I have a good few songs in the pipe line, so when I have some spare time in between music releases, I like to change things up just to challenge myself.
What most inspires you? Since I was a kid I always loved to sing. Then when I was in work during the day, I used to be painting away in new houses belting out some Luke Kelly from the Dubliners.
My favorite is Chris Cornell, may he rest in peace. He had such a talent for playing music, writing it, and I love his amazing voice. When I listen to him, he had this way of making you nearly feel every word. Of course, I could name out hundreds of musicians, but Chris really does it for me. I would just love to make people feel and understand the feeling of the stories of my songs like that. God knows I’ll never hold a candle to Chris but at least I’m telling my stories.
It’s my personal opinion that being a musician today is like trying to win the lotto.
There are so many musicians out there now that the competition is tight for new artists trying to break in. When I first showed my first song to Jacqueline Jax at AVA Live Radio in November not for one minute did I think “oh I’m going to be famous”. I know there’s a lot of talent out there but at the end of the day, if I know there’s people out there that want to listen to my songs, or can relate to them on some level. I think I’ve done my job.

This song is... our 1st song in the studio as a band. It’s also the 1st and only song that I have written on a keyboard, since I really don't know how to play one. As the song started to take life, it became an unusual mix of Jazz (hence the saxophone) and outlaw country with Americana story telling.
Murderer of Love is written about that first love, who you trusted with all you heart but let you down, just walked away as if your love didn't matter. I love the story telling side of music, especially country. I think every song needs a strong story, and if you can combine that with the right instrumentation, you get something very special. That's one of the reasons bands like the Eagles have influenced me as they deliver both. I also hear that in songwriters like Gary Allen, George Strait, and Hank Williams Jr. When a songwriter can combine a good story with a good musical lick, it works for me every time.
The music… With the the release of "Murderer of Love" we are hoping to bring good old fashion story telling with a Jazz type vibe to Country Music. Who doesn't like a little Sax now and then. This song also marks the 1st release as a band. Myself and Jordan, the other member who is playing Sax on the record, have worked hard for the past year and a half getting this song ready and now with our newest member, Allen, we look forward to the direction the music will take us. It’s a great start.
Right now we are... getting ready to record a new Demo with the newest member of ‘Yes M.A.M. ‘ . The new song will be a throwback to the R&B music of the 60"s with a country style of story telling. After that, we will be playing the local art festival herein Canton Georgia May 5th, and then we will be heading a songwriter session in Canton as well on the 11th of May. The year as already been off to a great start musically.

My songs are basically a story that most people have or will go through at least once in their lives. The song ‘Leaving’ is basically a love song if you will. The songs story is really about a guy waking up to find his girlfriend gone from the bed. As he jumps out of the bed he can see her leaving through the window. Walking to her car with her things and driving away. The songs lyrics are basically what he is thinking to himself. How his day goes.
To be honest to really get it you will have to hear it. There’s no riddles in the song just straight to the point..... the way I like it. I wrote this song when I personally was going through mixed emotions about a relationship I was in. I won’t say any more on that matter lol. A lot of the time it takes a while to write a song. This song came to me, I didn’t go looking for it.
I woke up one morning, as I lay in the bed thinking away. Then bang the lyrics just came to me. People might find that crazy but that’s how a lot of my songs do. I don’t pick them, they pick me in a way. I wrote the lyrics, melody and chords to this song in about five mins I think. No lie. When I write a song, I don’t like to use fancy words or riddles to make it sound intelligent. I just write them as a person would think...... straight to the point and clear as you're going to get. It’s the best way I think. At least I can say when you hear one of my songs for the first time, you will get it.
The music we are creating is... I think at the time of writing this song I was going through a lot of emotions, relationship wise. I was doing a lot of thinking about past and present relationships. In a sense of ''did I do this right'' ''should I have said or done this''. I personally was coming out of a relationship at the time so that’s why I think around that time most of my songs were love related and relationship related to be honest sometimes I think was I ever really in love for real before. I wanted to have that feeling everyone was talking about. The butterflies in the stomach sort of thing when you think of that person, maybe if I let down my walls who knows I suppose. lol
Right now we are...
I am really getting my head into the right place to start to write more songs. For the last few months I’v been more involved in social media and videos for my songs etc. So it’s back to the drawing board if you will, I’m planing on a fundraiser for the middle of this year but I won’t be giving any details about it just yet as it’s still in talks. To be honest. this year I’m more going to concentrate on getting all my social media and other personal stuff in place. Because it is only three months ago that I only started to show my stuff. So baby steps for me I think and learn as I go along.
