 Joel McCrary in the 1990s.

Joel McCrary was born in Mississippi in 1967. His first TV appearance was as an uncredited passenger on an airplane in a 1990 episode of Growing Pains. Through the 90s he mostly took on one-episode roles in TV series, usually sitcoms, which included Seinfeld, The Pretender, Caroline in the City, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids TV Show, Kenan&Kel, Dharma & Greg, Suddenly Susan and Third Rock from the Sun. He did get small parts in 3 movies in the late 90s. He played a leather-man bartender in a Drag Gay Bar in Playing by Heart in 1998 with an all-star cast that included Angelina Jolie. He played a police patrolman in Mystery Men in 1999 with Ben Stiller. He played a Catering Boss in American Beauty in 1999 with Kevin Spacey.

Joel McCrary has continued playing different, often comedic parts, with some dramatic roles, showing his versatility. During this time he played one-episode characters in The Middle, Justified, Bones and others. He has continued doing more and more voice work, but his most roles have been as Judge Kamiltow in 10 of 23 episodes of Trial & Error, 17 of 84 episodes of Disney’s Kickin’ It, playing Bobby Wasabi and 49 of 50 episodes of Dwight in Shining Armor playing Baldric the Magician.

Joel McCrary mostly played one-episode characters in TV series in the 2000s. He appeared in Malcolm in the Middle, Dharma & Greg (a second time as a different character), The Bernie Mac Show, The District, Las Vegas, Cold Case, Boston Legal, iCarly and How I Met Your Mother among others. He also appeared in movies including The Princess Diaries and The Princess Diaries II Royal Engagement, Cheaper by the Dozen and Evil Alien Conquerors. He also stated doing voice work in animated features as King of the Hill, Over the Hedge and Charlotte’s Web.
