what's something el appreciates about having will as a brother? bonus points if you answer for Jonathan too.

ooh. i think one thing would be that will understands better than anyone else what it feels like to be different and undergo experiences you can’t erase. he has his past with the upside down, and she has her past with the lab.

for jonathan, i think she would appreciate having an older sibling to look out for her. she’s had hopper as a parental figure, but that’s different. and kali might have been her elder sibling, but she wasn’t there for el in the same sense that jonathan was, even if she tried to be. i think jonathan also has a very comforting and soothing presence, and el would like having that around when she first moved in the with byers.

i think she would appreciate both of them just for being her siblings. she never had a real sibling other than kali, and she spent a very small amount of time with her. i think she also knows jonathan and will would be there for her no matter what, just as she would be for them, and she loves them for it. (same for joyce). she’d also appreciate that they respect her and her boundaries and don’t push past those boundaries. one really heartwarming example of this is their reunion in s4 where will asks el if she’s okay. he doesn’t ask about anything that happened, just if she was okay, and i think she really appreciated that. jonathan also never asks what happened. he simply makes sure that she’s safe and cared for.
