In 1933, a film maker leads a ship and his new actress to the mysterious Skull Island. Besides the indigenous people, the island is filled with dinosaurs, giant bugs, and an enormous Ape known as King Kong. Kong takes a liking to the actress. After numerous deaths, Kong is captured and taken to New York to be presented as a show piece. However, at his grand premier, Kong escapes. He takes the actress and carries her to the top of the Empire State Building. There he is attacked by fighter planes. Kong saves Ann, the actress, but falls to his death. The film maker says, "oh no, it wasn't the airplanes. It was beauty that killed the beast." (King Kong, movie)

USHL Players of the Week: Week 28

Sioux City forward Bobby Brink earns third consecutive weekly award, Central Illinois defenseman John Driscoll and Dubuque goaltender Matthew Thiessen earn first set of honors.

The United States Hockey League announced the Forward, Defenseman and Goaltender of the Week for Week 28 of the 2018-19 season. Sioux City Musketeers forward and 2019 NHL Draft prospect Bobby Brink was named Forward of the Week for the third straight week, Central Illinois Flying Aces blueliner John Driscoll earned his first Defenseman of the Week honors, and Dubuque Fighting Saints goalie Matthew Thiessen was named Goaltender of the Week for the first time this season. 

Brink brought in one goal in each game while also adding three helpers, Driscoll dished out four assists, and Thiessen posted an impressive 44 save shutout over the weekend. The USHL is America’s only Tier 1 junior hockey league, and continues to lead the world in the advancement of Division I college hockey athletes.

The Socrates Sculpture Park, a small non-profit public art space located in Long Island City, is a pillar of the Queens contemporary art scene. Formed in 1986 on top of an abandoned landfill, the site has long been a home to large, outdoor sculpture and site-specific installation. However, the park opened its grounds to a group of sound artists, musicians, and dancers over the weekend, challenging the materialist roots of the sculpture garden — and questioning the boundaries public art.
