Nails - ‘Unsilent Death’
Nails Headline a Loud Lineup at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Thursday
Southern California’s Nails—singer-guitarist Todd Jones, bassist John Gianelli, guitarist Leon del Muerte and drummer Taylor Young—make the kind of in-your-face punk-fueled heavy metal that earned them the title of the “Angriest Band in Hardcore” from Rolling Stone. “Since 2009 the SoCal grind merchants have forged a punishing blend of machine-gun blast-beats, damaged riffs, and vocals that seethe and blister with the wrongdoings of mankind. And they often do it all in less than a minute’s time,” according to the A.V. Club. Their most recent full-length, at almost 22 minutes, You Will Never Be One of Us (stream it here), dropped in 2016 on Nuclear Blast. “Although the album’s title refers to fair-weather, bandwagoning hardcore and metal fans, it could just as easily refer to the band’s peers in that very same scene,” offered Exclaim. “On You Will Never Be One of Us, Nails are simply on another level.” Following the recent release of a new single, “I Don’t Want to Know You” (above), Nails come through Brooklyn to play Music Hall of Williamsburg on Thursday night with the like-minded Misery Index, Outer Heaven and Ulthar opening.
