9/29/22 Down to F dock to buy frozen tuna from FV Shirley with Cyndy Wuoulte. $4/lb but $3.75/lb for >100 lbs. we bought a bit over 100lb to split. Kept in Haley’s freezer til canning day today. Partial thaw then to Wuolte’s for canning party today. Dave/Steve loined the tuna outdoors accompanied by hungry yellow jackets. Cyndy, Amy, and I packed Ball jars and loaded 4 large pressure cookers. Outdoor propane burners for each cooker bringing pressure to 10-15 lbs for 100 minutes. Pressure watching required red wine, apples, cheese/salami board. Robert stopped by. Dinner later tuna wrapped in Wuolte pig bacon delicious. A good time with good people.
9/29/22 Last week Cyndy Wuolte and I went down to Noyo Harbor-FV Shirley for frozen tunas. $4/lb but $3.75 if buying >100 lbs. We bought 50 lbs apiece. Neighborhood pot luck paranda party at Munson’s, Wuolte’s, and our first yurt event. I made Laura Bush’s cowboy cookies, coffee, and tea. Dave lit a big fire in the redwoods. We had had 2.25” of rain the previous Sunday. Today we gathered at Wuolte’s to can tuna. They have a backhoe to bury carcasses. Dave/Steve loined the fish accompanied by hungry yellowjackets. Cyndy, Amy, and I packed pint jars then loaded 4 large pressure cookers. 100 minutes at 10-15 lb pressure. Robert came by. Wine required for watching the pressure. Bacon wrapped tuna for dinner. Good company and food on a beautiful day.
4/18/22. Making progress on yurt foundation. Clever fellow, Dave uses a water level to measure posts to the same height. This accounts for uneven ground. Note the old growth redwood posts from Corry 30 years ago compared to wider rings on new lumber–photos 8&9.
2/9/22. Dave is off to Treasure Island, MN to ice fish. Burr!!
He laid out the yurt platform foundations. 32 holes in the ground. Most 27x27x24. Chris Brians, the digger, came. With the help of Dave and Austin, all holes dug. Great humor. Loved those guys! Cool kindling chopper. Acacia kindling.
Loom in living room. Making fires many evenings.
Miner’s lettuce. We have a pasture full. Great salad.
May 3-5/2019 Family reunion represented by 4/5 Fryer cousins and the 3 Reynolds girls or offspring. Good company, weather, food, and campfires. Botanical garden during Rhodadendron show- spectacular. How lucky I am to enjoy all in my family. Great gathering!
5/5/19 Reynolds-Fryer family reunion at our home in Ft Bragg. 4/5 cousins. The original 3 girls well represented. Sunny days, botanical garden visit. ( one of the top ten gardens in the U. S.) Rhodadendron competition in tent. Snake demo on the lawn. Barbecue, posole, salads, Cowlicks ice cream, North Coast Brewery beer and more. I am lucky to enjoy all my family!!
