I spent a lot of time on Tues when we didn't have electricity reading - I read a lot of "The Original Body" by John Stirk, and plan to post some material from this book. It's about what underlies movement patterns and pain patterns in the body and its got me to thinking a lot about what is therapeutic for someone and what might be less so. He says," We may be attached to or even addicted to our tensional patterns because they represent who we are. We are attached to our muscular settings because we are attached by then they hold us together and we may even reinforce them in practice." More later. Also: "If we were free from impediments there would be no yoga; there would be no need to practice anything."
