“Then Jahn wasn´t such a bad choice?” “I suppose it wasn´t.” Ravishan reached past John to pull a spray of pine needles from the branch above them.

“So you saved the candidate´s life?” Ravishan pulled one of the needles loose from the rest, and after a moment, let it drop to the ground.

“I don´t know.” John shrugged. “He was pretty well guarded. He might have been fine without my help.” “The Issusha`im Oracles foresaw his death.” Ravishan shifted to face John, his hip and elbow resting lightly against the smooth alabaster. He leaned close, keeping his voice low “But you stopped it.” ________________________________________________________________ I don´t think I will ever stop screaming about just how good The rifter series by Ginn Hale is. I´m currently reading the books again for the third time and while I´m not too happy with how this turned out (because I have this very clear image of John and Ravishan in my mind) I just couldnt resist. Seriously, go read the rifter! ♥

The Rifter Series (by Ginn Hale)

This series of books is one of my favorite fantasy series AND one of my favorite romance series AND one of my favorite specifically MM romance books. I have been a big Ginn Hale fan since “Wicked Gentlemen”, and I’ve read this one about 4 years ago. I am about to re-read it, but I wanted to do a review before, with my old memories and my written notes.

I loved this to pieces. This has everything I usually enjoy: parallel worlds, the origin of prophecies and religions and how they evolved with time, two people who should be enemy but fall in love, longing and pining, kindness, oh so much kindness, a kind person who is also very powerful, botany! And, of course, angst and fluff and a beautiful ending. 

From this series also come the feelings that I usually love so much as I try to put in everything I write myself, this idea of being so kind with your lover, who secretly thinks you have always been too kind to him AH I AM DYING ALL OVER AGAIN.

So, expects a lot of feelings, a lot of surprises, PLOT TWISTS, amazingly coherent world building, who is narrated without info dumbs or long winded pages of boring facts. The world building is slowly unraveled with the main plot, keeping the reader both interested and curious about what missing pieces are not yet shown.

Plot (no spoilers): This is the story of John and his roommate Kyle. One day John opens a letter for Kyle and finds a mysterious key in it, which will lead him to a world and a future stranger than he has ever expected.

I only have two things that I didn’t like, and, without spoilers, I will just say that one is a sex scene that felt a but out of place (nothing bad, just the pace and its presence at that point was strange), and I am a fan of a specific kind of ending that I will have to add under cut for spoilers:

I would have really wanted John and Kyle to return to a normal kind life in the modern world, because I am a big fan of “returning to normality after so many adventures”, so this is my minor complaint.

I read the first book in The Rifter series years ago, but it confused me to much, and I never picked it back up until this year.

And OMG I’m so glad I did, the first 4 books are only 70 pages, and yes the beginning confused me, but everything makes sense the more you read, and I still have a lot of feelings about these characters! Especially Laurie, I went back and forth from “she must be protected” to “everyone must be protected from her”. It was amazing!

I’m reading The Rifter series by Ginn Hale, and OH MY GOD I CAN’T EVER DESCRIBE how amazing this book is! I love all the characters, the universe, the style of writing, the plot, everything! It’s so sad that the book is so unknown and there is close to zero fanart of it! So I started drawing them boys myself T^T
