“I originally wrote this song in 2017 about the end of a relationship, but I recently heard it again and realized it’s more about how the internet’s starting to change my relationships in general. Our culture's endless content loop is making us addicted to immediate gratification, and it gives us overwhelmingly layered expectations for everything and everyone. When you have a lens on the whole world, it can be hard to not want more. But who's to say you shouldn't? In the context of this song, it sucks to find your partner has romantic FOMO, but what if it leads to positive change for both of you? Is love a finite resource? I don't know. But if we can’t opt out of our chaotic reality, maybe we can at least learn to see the entropy as a good thing.” (press release)

Los Angeles (via San Diego, CA) producer/singer/songwriter John War is readying a debut project tentatively entitled Fantasy due this summer, which will not include “Track #4”. 

Past singles from John War have been featured in places like Obscure Sound, IndieShuffle, & BuffaBlog.John serves as executive producer for Los Angeles singer/songwriter Jordan Raf, whose debut album Double Negative was released in 2016 under Atlantic/P.O.W. Recordings, and whose second album Heaven is due in early 2019. John’s works with Jordan Raf have been featured in places like Stereogum, the Fader, i-D Magazine, and Noisey. As one half of production duo Best Picture, John has released songs with rising artists such as Chester Watson, Bernard Jabs, Miya Folick (under pseudonym), Lil West and more. John’s Best Picture material has been featured in places like the Fader, Pigeons & Planes, Passion of the Weiss, IndieShuffle, & Vimeo (Staff Pick), and has been featured in Spotify’s Fresh Finds playlist. Briefly apprenticed under Norwegian producer Axident (Justin Bieber, Jason De Rulo) while on break from attending Northwestern University. A former member of experimental electronica / lo-fi pop group Range Rover, published by FatCat Records.

“Out of all the rock songs I’ve made, Track #4 could be my favourite, but it’s a weird one for me. Writing it felt like a huge release—it was like an emotion bomb—and it flowed out of me in a half hour, but all the parts took me months to mix. It’s also one of my most private songs, but it’s turned out to be the one track of mine my friends have pressured me to put out most. Music’s weird like that… the most personal stuff hits the hardest. Even though it’s been 3 years since I made it, I feel like this song still represents what I do musically pretty perfectly. Better late than never, right?”
