I think you talked about Mary being John's moustache a few days ago and guess what, today on twitter contactsh told contactjhw that the "moustache" is not a part of their lifes anymore...:D I think it's deleted now, but it was on my notifications!

I is confused. If Sherlock hates the moustache, why did he give Victorian!John an extra thick one in his Mind Palace?

I’ve answered a similar question already in the past, but in a nutshell I think Sherlock gives him one as a symbol of John’s repression and conforming to society’s norms. At least Sherlock “fixed” the moustache to one he finds sexy :D

And I don’t think Sherlock necessarily HATED it, he just didn’t LIKE the one John chose for himself…which is why he gives him one nicer.

What do you think is the implication of John's mustache in TAB, the reason for it being "so people would recognize [him]"?

Just as Sherlock’s deerstalker is his heteronormative mask he wears so people recognize him, John’s moustache is his “beard” so people recognize him. But they don’t like the masks that the public has forced upon them (ie the heteronormative just bros mask), so they want to get rid of them. So modern Sherlock throws away the hat in his mind, symbolically removing the barrier keeping him from loving John (his fear of John’s rejection), and John, in TEH John shaves for Sherlock Holmes, who likes his doctors clean-shaven.

TL;DR John hates the moustache because it’s not who he is. He’s forced to wear a mask in public to be accepted by them, which could symbolize Sherlock’s realization of John forcing himself to hide who he truly is.

I finally was able to watch The Abominable Bride and I think the biggest takeaway from it was that John Watson’s mustache is literally the worst ever mustache because not only does it look terrible all by its awkward little lonesome but even Molly Hooper’s FAKE mustache looks better than John’s
