Ajudando a escrever a história da Companhia das Índias Orientais em JOHN COMPANY, de Cole Wehrle, pela Sierra Madre Games. #colewehrle #sierramadregames #johncompany #ieco #economia #mercantilismo #jogodetabuleiro #boardgames #brettspiele https://www.instagram.com/p/Bqz40ZYDO73/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=iqydlg0htrgt
John Company. Trying out the Post-Monopoly scenario for the first time. I actually liked this quite a bit, it might be a bit more interesting and dynamic than the early company scenario. The deal-making over launching and funding firms is a bit more comprehensible than the bureaucratic turf wars, and the competition with successful firms may encourage the Company to behave marginally more responsibly and not require endless bailouts the way we usually see in the earlier scenarios. It still has a bit of a learning curve though; it’ll take a game probably to get the feel for how the firms work and what a sensible level of capitalization is. And although John Company is generally fairly spare rules-wise, it’s still a little finicky. Anyway, still enjoying it a lot but I wish it were a touch shorter and a bit easier to play - especially in light of playing the designer’s Root in the same session and seeing how efficient and effective a design that game is. I’m not sure the underlying economic model is quite as solid as it could be. But like most SMG titles, it’s evocative and fun and now I do want to try this scenario again! 😀 Funny aside: these days I usually buy two copies of new Sierra Madre games, just because they seem to be so conservative on print runs that they sell out quickly and usually are then worth a lot on the secondary market. Plus I usually like them a lot. I’ve sold my second copies of Greenland, Pax Renaissance, Pax Pamir, and High Frontier for multiples of what I paid. But I didn’t snag a second John Company for some reason and now I see it’s going for a good chunk of change as well 😄 #bgg #boardgamegeek #boardgames #johncompany #sierramadregames (at Game Kastle - Mountain View) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bnz0akthLhK/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=lpswxphh0yr0
John Company was seriously complicated. Too complicated, really. I’m not sure I want to take the effort to learn it properly. A bit of a disappointment, perhaps. #johncompany #lautapelaamaan #boardgames #boardgame (paikassa Kaapelitehdas) https://www.instagram.com/p/BnvewLNj-RD/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=e45fc11lypfh
