Root. I’m going to be honest, this one isn’t yet firing on all cylinders for me, and I’m not sure I’ve got the patience to find out if it ever will. 🌲🌳🐹🐰🦊🐭🌲🌳🐹🐰🐭🦊🌳🌲 After last nights second game I came away with a mixture of feelings about it. On the one hand, I really love the theme and the presentation, and the gameplay is certainly smart and unique. On the other hand, having two games and still having players confused about how the game works and unsure about what they are supposed to do is almost unacceptable when there are other games we can just pick up and play. I’m not sure that Root does anything that exceptional that gives us enough reason to want to continue learning it. 🌳🌲🐹🐭🐰🦊🌲🌳🐹🦊🐭🐰🌲🌳 There’s no denying this game stands out in both its presentation and uniqueness, but I’m starting to wonder if asymmetric games of this depth are something that even appeal to me. In both games so far I’ve felt completely detached from each other player, rather than connected to them through the game mechanics. 🌲🌳🐹🐰🐭🦊🌲🌳🦊🐭🐰🐹🌲🌳🐹🐭🐰🦊 Perhaps this one deserves more time, or perhaps it just isn’t for me. I’d love to give it more opportunity to grow on me, and if my group is willing probably will. But so far the hype has died a bit after playing!
