Design Lab artist John Malta is featured in the New Yorker’s Daily Shouts column this month! In his own words it’s a, “really hilarious story about a guy who goes on a wild quest for an amulet.”
John Malta is no novice to creating these fantastic illustrations for The New Yorker. You can see previous illustrations in the Night Life section about new electronic musicians or in the dance section hilariously portraying the nuances of twentieth century ballet. He’s worked with The New York Times, The Washington Post, VICE, Esquire Russia, MIT Technology Review, The Village Voice, Surfing Magazine, North American Review, and The Boston Globe.
In an article from Made in the Middle, John reflects on his process during tight turn arounds and harsh deadlines, he states, “There is no time to over think your work for them, and (most of the time) that yields the most exciting results.”
“It forces you to rely on your instincts as an illustrator” - John Malta
Well, we love your instincts as an illustrator and we couldn’t be happier to have you as a Design Lab Artist!
