It's been about four years since Chris screened any of his films in public. You can see his 2016 film Johnno's Dead at @londonanimation on Wednesday 29th November 2023. It kicks off at 9pm at the Horse Hospital in London. A blast from the past. This movie is Chris's sequel too his 2003 classic Dad's Dead. After Johnno’s Dead’s success at Brest and Aesthetica the film returns to Manchester for the Manchester Animation Festival. You can see Johnno’s Dead in competition at the brilliant Home as part of Short Films 1 at the following times.

Last year I presented a retrospective at the festival. Just as I was about to go on stage I got word that my father-in-law John Burrows was critically ill in hospital. Luckily Home was and 15 minutes from the Royal Salford. I raced over there to see John and he was very ill. Everyone at MAF really looked after me and the family which was amazing. I managed to intro the retrospective and I told the audience what was going on. John smiled when I told him that the audience had wished him well. John always loved watching my films and I promised him that I would take him to see Johnno’s Dead at MAF 2017. Unfortunately John never recovered and passed away a couple of days later. Even now its hard to believe that John isn’t about. We all miss him. I’d like like to take the opportunity to dedicate both of these two MAF screenings to John Burrows.
It was such a thrill to introduce Johnno’s Dead to the audience today (11th November 2017) at the prize winning screening at Ouest Grand Theatre. It’s a very rare too get the opportunity to present your work to a 1200 audience and it was rammed. So i just wanted to say thanks to everyone at Brest European Short Film Festival and particularly Arthur Lemasson for programming it. The only other chance Ive had to show my work to such a massive audience was screening Bad Night For The Blues at Clermont Ferrand when it won the Canal+ International Award in 2010 and I cried in that screening when it got big laughs. So I’ll cherish this memory. Also well done to the brilliant Claude Duty who opened the prize winners screening.
