Johnny feels like the kind of guy who would find out the Lin Kuei are Earthrealm and proceed to cheer on the scary ice ninja that he keeps seeing around the island. And immediately take in said ninja after an especially bad fight leaves him battered.
Kuai: “I am going to train.”
Johnny: “Mind if I join you?”
Kuai: “I am not adverse to your company. But why?”
Johnny: “Because you train when you feel lonely or distressed and have difficulty asking for companionship when you want it.”
Kuai, embarrassed: “How did you know that?”
Johnny: “I’m not entirely stupid, Grandmaster Blueberry-Ice. I know when my boyfriends are upset.”

YOURE COMPLETELY RIGHT! I need to rewatch the MKX story. Johnny wouldn't trust his kids with just anyone! And that intro lives rent free in my mind.
Kuai is the one to let Johnny refer to him with the cheesiest nicknames, its canon and I love it.

Kuai: "Johnny is able to fall asleep almost immediately. Meanwhile it takes me some time to fall asleep near another person."
Kuai: "Yet we feel lonely unless we are cuddling, so at times I will be trapped in his arms until he wakes up."
Hanzo: "Are you telling me you're late because you were being pinned down by a sleeping Cage?"

I love them so much.
- Its obvious why I ship these two...opposites attract.
- Their ship name is based off the Grandmaster Blueberry Ice intro.
- Johnny always gets cold when he visits the Lin Kuei compound, Kuai has a specific wardrobe of clothes for Johnny to borrow.
- Kuai loves affection but his upbringing in the Lin Kuei taught him to smother that need. Johnny is slowly showing Kuai not to hate his need for intimacy.
- I like to imagine this pairing as a ship that can grow old and mature together. Johnny saw Kuai through his worst after escaping the Lin Kuei, Kuai saw Johnny through his worst dealing with his bankruptcy and alcoholism. They're a pair that have loved and helped each other through a lot and I love them.
