new timber window
http://www.surreybespokejoinery.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/10.7.11-082-300x224.jpg Sliding sash windows are very satisfying to make, and in this case, they were for a listed building, and had to match the existing windows exactly. The first stage of the job was to machine the hardwood timber components of the window frames, which were to have a hollow cavity for the lead weights to slide up and down in. Pulleys are also fitted into the top of the frames, which the sash cord will run through, the lead weights on one end, and the window sash on the other. Each sash will have a pulley either side of it.
