Tonight Yukako was a little farther out than she was before. Usually the selkie preferred to stay in warmer waters close to land, even if that meant watching out for humans. Humans could be dangerous for any creature, but especially a selkie. They’d try to steal her coat and imprison her! Even still, Yukako couldn’t help but be fascinated by them, and enjoy collecting trinkets that washed into her domain. When she wasn’t with her seals, she often made art or tried to piece together what he past life must have been before the so called curse. Today, she was investigating a location where one of their ships capsized. The selkie wondered if that may have been how she died, leaving her in this double life. As she headed out, she thought “none of the creatures that lived in the deep open waters were more dangerous that humans, right?”
Her thoughts were interrupted when she bumped into something large. But it didn’t feel like the wreck. No, it felt like something scaly, and living. Tentatively, she shifted her eyes up to see the large sea serpent. Instinctively, she paddled back and let her hood slip to reveal her face.
“O-Oh my goodness I’m so sorry!”
