T - “That's it.” He reassures you with a kiss to your temple. “Finish getting dressed. Call your driver on the way to the office. You fell asleep there. Got it? Right at the desk.”

U - Unintentionally, this had caused you to be stuck in the middle when he was trying to spare you from it all. He should have told you the truth.

L - Loving him was to live again, though keeping him hidden away in the dark felt like a sin.

I - It was perfect. It was a refuge. It was home.

P - Play it cool. Play it cool. Play it cool. You repeat over and over in your head.

G - Gator was an enigma. He was sweet but guarded and blindly loyal to his father in a way that made him dangerous, craving his approval so deeply that he would do anything to gain it. It left you wondering why he would help you knowing he would most likely get himself in trouble.

H - His fists were clenched at his sides, anger bubbling up as he knelt down beside you, hesitantly bringing his hand up to brush the hair from your face as you closed your eyes.

O - “Okay.” You whisper.

“Yeah?” His eyes light up at the prospect, a grin lifting the edges of his lips.

U - “Um… yeah, I'd like that.” You nod, inching a little closer, with his grip still on your wrist. You slip your free hand into his and pull him forward.

L - “Look, I'm tryin’ to help ya’ out. Roy… he expects things to be done proper ‘round here. So just, can ya’ at least try?” He finally asks, with an almost pleading look.

I - “I didn't have a choice.” You shrug, eyes flitting down to the worn comforter. “Dads in jail, mom didn't want me. Your dad said I could stay here that I— I'd be safe.”

S - “School's hard? That's all you have to say for yourself?” Raising his voice before his hands came down against the table making everyone jump.

H - He didn't know what to say, so he didn't say anything at all, instead listening for a while until your breathing evened out as you drifted off to sleep.

WIP Wednesday

(Yes, it's Thursday... No, I don't care.)

I've been working on several things here lately but most recently, Runaway - a Gator TillmanxReader fic that will be nothing but angst and heartbreak. Anyone up for Gator coming to get you on Halloween night with a twist? It's young love doomed from the very beginning.

So, here's an excerpt:

“Goddamn, just as fiery as ever! Should've known this wouldn't be easy!” He bellows out, muffled through that mask but your eyes narrow warily at the voice. Your face morphs into confusion with a flash of recognition passing over your features.

“Gator?” You rasp out, trying to swallow the lump in your throat.

It couldn't be. Your gaze lingers on the mask for a moment, trailing downward. A leather jacket, paired with black tactical pants and a thigh holster. No. Anyone but him.

His name hangs thickly between you, tilting his head as if debating with himself before heavily sighing and maneuvering his hands around so only his left still has both your wrists pinned above you.

He lifts the other, finally ripping the mask from his face. You stare into those familiar, hazel eyes that suddenly thrust you back into a landslide of memories and emotions. A far cry from the boy you once knew, a man before you now.

“Hey darlin.” He says with a lopsided grin, a nonchalance about the entire situation that has you stunned, the urge to fight suddenly draining from your body.

“That damn mask was gettin’ hot.” He adds, tossing it somewhere across the room.

“Wh— What the hell are you doing here?” Asking, when you already know the answer but are unwilling to believe it.

“What do you think?” Leaning a little further into your space. “Roy sent me.”

“Gator, you can't take me back there. You know exactly what's waiting for me.” You rush out, a million scenarios running through your mind. You'd expected this eventually but never could have imagined it would be Gator coming to collect.
