Allison could not bring herself to address what happened with Alice at the gala. It was not in her nature to let herself truly feel her feelings. In fact, avoiding them all together and, instead, moving on and burying herself in work were the way to go. At least in her book. So, what else could she have done other than take on more meaningless tasks from other people in her department? Grab coffee like an unpaid intern? Sure. Sift through emails and delete the useless ones? Absolutely. Run this paperwork down to legal? Without a doubt. She walked into the main office, seeing the Lawyer’s door closed. Of course. It was just about time for lunch. Allison had every intention of working through it, but that was not as common, she realized. She sighed, not quite ready to go back to her desk yet. Still, she turned to go back back, spotting Joey. She really didn’t have much of a reason to bother him, but if it spared her a few more minutes of avoiding any reflection on the gala, then she would take it. Besides, he was sweet if not a little directionally challenged. She took an uninvited seat in a chair across from his desk. “Hi, Joey. How are you?”
