I just realised I got a new follower who is into model railroads. Glad to have you, I’m afraid this blog is absolutely not about model railroads most of the time, but I can also promise that it’s about model railroads sometimes. Here and there. And here’s my latest model railroad purchase (not counting some freight cars).
This track, and the small circle to the left of it, are made in Japan and you can find them at https://www.kamitetsu.com/商品/jokeトラック/ . The name of the series is JokeTrack, and that really says it all: Incredibly tiny N gauge loops, as far as I can tell artisan-made from flex tracks, with radii of less than 40 mm. It’s pointless, it’s not prototypical at all, and I bought two of them because it’s so much fun.
The locomotive is not made by that company, but they do resell it. It runs at 3V max (and no DCC here). The prototype is an AEG mining locomotive that was delivered to Japan in 1904 and somehow ended up as the depot shunter of a tiny electrified branch line that has been desperately trying not to go bankrupt (again) for close to a century now. It’s going to get some labels and some additional included parts installed as soon as I can be bothered. I also want to build some tiny landscape to go along with the tiny layout, but I haven’t really worked out what yet in detail. I think it should have a bridge, and a station, and a level crossing. Maybe even a tree…
If you’re interested, the folks at that company do speak English and they ship everywhere, although in my case they literally did ship by ship so it took three months to get it to Germany. Still, very nice stuff.
