The disheveled comedian approached Jessica after one of her shoes. He appeared tired and nervous. "Excuse me, Miss Rabbit? My friends call me Jack and I loved you at The Acme Club. Would you know if your boss has any need for a comedian?" His eyes shyed away. "Or does that gig belong only to your husband?"
Jessica’s brows raised slightly as she paused, lowering the tube of lipstick carefully to the vanity. She’d propped her door open for some fresh air, but something else-- Someone, rather-- Had come in.
Turning, Jessica stood carefully and eyed the man, a slight frown of confusion blurring her expression. He seemed vaguely familiar, but heaven knew she wasn’t able to place it. There was just something ever-so-slightly off about it--Nevertheless, it was a well-meaning question. Clearing her throat, she glanced past him to the stage door-- Sealed shut for the evening.
“We’re hosting auditions tomorrow night--”She smiled slightly, and chuckled, “But Roger doesn’t perform here. He’s got his own shows to handle-- We keep stage and screen separate.” She appraised the man briefly, then with only the slightest hesitation, held out her hand:“Jack, it’s a pleasure. Jessica Rabbit.” A slow grin formed,“Care to show a girl what you can do?”
