Agreed. It's so important, yet classes have 5+ years of health class segments discussing drugs and not about anything like depression, anxiety, etc.

Yeah, like I remember having a short mental health part of health class but it wasn’t like... it didn’t teach us any skills for mental self-care that so many people would have benefited from at a young age in awful school environments.

I've been wanting to have the courage to unpack myself since I started packing. I mean I remember being an 11 year old who was frustrated bc the adults would say "just try to fit in with your peers a little better and [bullying] will go away," and I'd look up at the posters on the guidance counselor's wall that were all "be yourself!march to the tune of a different drummer!" and feeling so lied to and helpless. I'm 35 and I still can't be myself in public without terror.

It takes a lot of time. Things come to the surface that you have to touch when you unpack. Sometimes it’s really icky and not fun.
