hello! I wanted to ask which of your pets is your favorite to draw? (Also I love all your darigan lutari designs!)
Thank you for asking!! And thank you for the compliment! I had fun making those designs!
So for those who don't know, here are my pets:
Top to bottom, left to right we have Tilleri the tyrannian peophin, Snow the magma eyrie, Anna the eerie pirate eyrie, Oak the green kougra, Jolly K the dimensional kougra, Sharkhorn the darigan flotsam, Jolly 0 the darigan ruki, Darkstrike the gold jetsam, Maplw the faerie lutari, and Maggie the candy zafara.
10 pets are characters and are permanent, I have a lab pet that I also use for the daily quests, so they're a tradable collection of pixels. (Currently a glowing aisha is anyone wants it)
So now to answer the question!
It's easily (looks left and right to make sure the pets can't hear) Jolly K! Tigers are my favorite animal, and so kougras are my favorite neopet. And I like drawing tigers, but what really pushed Jolly K over the edge compared to the rest is how I color her.
I thought the dimensional color was cool, and then I made her character based on her color. She ended up becoming a mage, and I love witches too! So she has a lot of fun witch outfits, which also makes her fun to draw, but back to her color.
On Colors3D, if you erase most of a color, multiply the layer, merge it with itself, and repeat, you get this cool corruption effect. It makes the colors more saturated and increase the contrast, which can make an overall more dynamic piece. It also makes cool looking fire like shapes on the edges, which works with how I interpret the dimensional color to be a combination of dark, air, and light magic. For example, if you look just beyond her glowing outline, you can see the corrupted color.
I also like using this same technique for the fire and magma on Snow.
Snow is my 3rd favorite to draw because I don't have as many outfits her as I do for Maple, who is my 2nd favorite to draw (Maple's also been cross-painted the most). Here's my most recent drawing of Maple celebrating getting to thr Secret Ninja Training School, and I also just got to 500 strength today!
This isn't her usual look, as this is showing off her stealthy/faerie crosspaint look for this occasion.
Please feel free to ask me about my Neopets! I love talking about them!!
Hey everyone, last day to submit! (for this week anyways) Starting tomorrow remember to only vote for pets that are protesting NFTs so we have a better chance at getting one pet on the News page! Here are my entries in case they get disqualified again....
And as you can see these are all edited versions of past entries, but for 10 pets, that’s what I had to do in order to finish the entries on time.
It’s Friday which means the BC has started once again! And to absolutely no one’s surprise, my green kougra, Oak, has not won a single trophy yet. But this post isn’t about him, it’s about my other kougra! Last week I made a really cool gif of her alternating between her red kougra (past) and dimensional kougra (present) self.
And because this is my blog I’m going to post the gif again! It took 4 tries to get this transition with minimal frames so it’s size would be small enough I could enter it in the BC. It’s also the first gif I’ve ever made! (as long as you don’t count those other three attempts) So I am quite proud of it!
Copy and pasted from her pet page, posting here in case Neopets is discontinued. It’s written like an interview under the cut.
Thank you for taking the time to let me interview you. Let's start off with an easy question, who do you support for the Altador Cup and why?
I don't really pay much attention to sports. If I had to pick, I guess the Haunted Woods. It is my current place of residence after all, but I do wish the rules would allow the use of unique abilities in the game. They would be so much more interesting!
What do you do for a career?
Well, I'm a pretty multi-dimensional pet and I think I have a job that reflects that. It may sound pretty basic, just running errands for the other denizens of the Woods, but there is more to it than that. There are lots of secretive magic users in the Woods that are often too busy to fetch their own ingredients, so that's where I come in. I fetch the ingredients for them and in return they teach me what they are using it for. Or rather, once I'm inside their house handing over the ingredient, I turn into a gaseous state and observe them making the potion. They are often oblivious to my presence and forget to watch me leave after I hand over the ingredient so I see no harm in it. The faeries who live in the woods know about my tricks and they will just teach me outright, but other pets? Not so much.
My abilities also come in handy when gathering items since I can traverse the Woods without danger and know where the best ingredients are. I also like to help out lost travelers, they are lots of dangers in the woods and it's better for everyone if they leave quickly. Tourists, am I right?
Quite so! And what do you like to do when you're not working?
Oh well once I return home from helping others, I often try out the same potion! I like to understand why certain ingredients have certain reactions with each other, and that takes experimentation! Gartai likes to watch in case I end up dropping something or if I end up making a tasty treat for him!
Were you always a dimensional kougra?
I used to be a red kougra living on Mystery Island. I loved food. I loved cooking. However, I was also fascinated with the magic of the Cooking Pot. That was the mystery I was curious to solve. Even though there were countless recipes for the pot, I wanted to know why it worked. Was it a magical pot? Or did the magic come from the faerie? But it's not like I could just ask! After all, faeries rarely shared their magic. So I thought she would try to figure it out for myself, by experimenting.
However, my experiments weren't very successful and I ended up making lots of strange soups or potions. Truth be told, some look more drinkable than others. But that's to be expected when one's petpet often gets lost when looking for ingredients, especially near the ruins. Lots of ingredients were either lost on the way to recover one's petpet or found from mysterious areas deep inside the ruins. Luckily, a couple of green kougras were able to help me look when my taigar got a little too far away from home.
Eventually, I made one potion that glowed like a bright neon light. It seemed to come from another dimension. Its effects? Well, I had to drink it to learn what it did. I mean, how else are you supposed to distinguish between a fancy looking soup and a plain looking potion unless you drink it?
As it turned out, I had made a morphing potion. Luckily, I was still the same species, but I would no longer be able to hide my quest from others on the island. Once I started glowing and existed on different dimensions, pets would know something was up. So I accidently turned myself dimensional and fled to the Haunted Woods to continue my research on magic.
How did you meet your petpet?
I was exploring the ruined city on Mystery Island and I came across a little creature. I fed it some food, taught it some commands, and we've been together since.
And moving on to the subject of magic, what faerie element represents you and why? And if the magic schools WartsHog and MornyIlver existed, what house would you be in and why?
I know I would be classified as dark since I live in the Woods and I am currently studying magic there. I'm still testing out what type of magic my dimensional color has an affinity for. You know, besides the obvious dark vines that seem to be growing with my talent for magic.
And puh-please, everyone knows those schools are made up. The only real magic school is the one in Faerieland where everyone is too stuck up to teach regular pets magic. Especially after that whole debacle with Xandra and then later on with Kaia, why would they let anyone they didn't already know into the academy? So many of us that are labeled at "witches", "wizards", or "sorcerers" are basically just scientists trying to understand magic because the faeries wont teach it!
In that case, is there any faerie magic you do use?
I hate to admit it, but we wouldn't be having this conversation if it wasn't for faerie magic. Trying to understand the magic of the Cooking Pot is what made me who I am today, but I'm not always consistent. In the early days, it was hard to switch between a more gaseous state and a more solid one. If I didn't pay attention, my head could be in the clouds! Literally. It wasn't great. Clothes helped me stay together, but there were always gaps and some part of me always seemed to be missing.
But once in the woods, I was able to find some help from a rather dubious seller of faerie artifacts. Some notably, from before Faerieland fell. I paid in cash, and I was able to get a necklace with an enchanted Air Faerie Bubble.
The bubble itself was stolen from the Faerie Bubbles cannon, and then imbued with an air faerie's magic. I didn't ask how, just if the faerie who's magic was inside the bubble knew. And no, she did not, but I was told the faerie would get it back over time. Like I said, it was from a dubious seller, but such is the nature of the Haunted Woods. And even if the process is morally ambiguous, it's better than trapping the poor thing in a bottle!
After I got the necklace, I was able to use the magic in the bubble to help bind my form to me. I didn't need layers, upon layers, of clothes to stay in one place! I could breathe easy knowing I wouldn't lose my nose while breathing! And with this new found control over my form, I learned how to switch between states, allowing me to live my life how I wish. Just uh, don't tell Fyora I have this alright?
I won't tell a soul! Moving on, how did you meet user/your sponsor?
I had to leave Mystery Island in a hurry and unfortunately, spending all your neopoints on research and ingredients doesn't leave a lot left for travel. So I signed up for a sponsorship. I decided to travel to the Haunted Woods because there would be others who were knowledgeable about magic and those who looked different. I would fit right in! Maf_2 bought a neohome in the Haunted Woods and I've lived at the same neohome since that day. It really is such a classic building.
Interesting! What would you wear to a fancy outing?
I would wear an outfit that would be a symbol of my power as a mage. A deep blue to match the night sky and a cloak with silver trim to represent light in the darkness as well as my shifting nature. Finally, I would wear creeping silver accents and silver branches to represent the forest branches of my home.
Here is one last fun question to finish off the interview. If you had a title like the Heroes of Altador, what would it be?
Jolly the Mysterious
That's all the questions that I have for you at the moment. Thank you for answering them Jolly!
