the response to this poll is baffling to me and i'm wondering if it's an issue of definitions so here's a more comprehensive poll:

what is the maximum extent to which you have participated in a fandom without directly experiencing the source material? (goncharov doesn't count, also for the sake of this poll let's count watching playthroughs of a game as counting, as well as series you haven't finished)

people on this site often talk about how “once you’re in a fandom, you’re in that fandom for the rest of your life,” but something that i feel like doesn’t get brought up nearly as much is its negative counterpart: when a fandom you used to be in gets permanently, irreversibly tainted and you have to try to reconcile the complex feelings of having this thing you used to love and all the positive feelings and memories you used to have while having the bitterness and betrayal and whatever other negative feelings you have toward that thing (and potentially its creator(s) depending on what tainted it) now

so what's been going on in my life lately, which you probably haven't noticed yet,

is that i may have started watching the witch hat atelier anime with some friends

and then i may have proceeded to binge read the entire manga in like a week-week and a half

and recent events might have entirely rewritten the inner workings of my brain
