Staind Co-founder; Lydia’s Castle Drummer Jon Wysocki Dies at 53
- “Jon was integral to who we were as a band,” Staind said in a statement
Jon Wysocki, the Staind co-founder and longtime drummer who recently joined Nashville-based Lydia’s Castle, has died, his bandmates said.
Wysocki was 53 when he died May 18 “surrounded by family and friends that loved him dearly,” Lydia’s Castle said. No cause was given.
The drummer co-founded Stained in 1995 and remained with the band through 2011. He appears on all but one of the group’s eight studio albums.
“Jon was integral to who we were as a band,” Staind said in a statement. “Our hearts go out to Jon’s family, and fans around the world who loved him.”
After leaving Staind, Wysocki played briefly with SOiL, whose surviving members remembered him as “one of the greats.
“Jon Wysocki was not only a great friend (and) a great drummer, but a great human being,” the band said in a statement. “It was an honor to have him in SOiL for the time we did. We had so many laughs, so many good times. You will be missed dearly.“
