Fitness Community Thrives at Motivational Monday in the Bronx
A Community United Through Fitness As the vibrant hues of a fall sunset enveloped Macombs Dam Park in the Bronx, a remarkable gathering unfolded. Dozens of individuals congregated around a jungle gym, the sun slowly descending beyond the horizon and casting a warm amber glow over the scene. More than 50 people were present, some engaged in push-ups, others tackling pull-ups, and a few running…

Quietly undefeated at 7-0. flyweight Jonathan Martinez goes into Legacy FC 49 looking to make a splash
PLAINVIEW, TX – With an impressive 7-0 record as a professional MMA fighter, Plainview’s Jonathan Martinez should not be flying under the radar but he has. Coming from a relatively small town away from the city lights, he’s quietly finished 5 of his first 7 opponents, beating some tough veterans in the process. If he keeps things going the way he has, he will be well on his way.
Seems like ages ago that he ever got started in this sport in the first place.
“I was 14 when my parents put me in Taekwondo so I could stay out of trouble,” says the West Texan.
He never imagined for things to get this far especially after losing his amateur debut but he’s not the type to get discouraged. Especially when he was some real, concrete motivations to help drive him.
“I have a full time job and a family I have to support. My dream is to make something of myself to show my kids that they can do anything they set their mind to and I have many people here with me to push and challenge me to do better and keep going. I’m gonna keep going til I get where I’m going.”
So where is Jonathan Martinez going?
Shreveport, LA on Dec. 4th serves as the immediate answer. He’ll be fighting Louisianan favorite Matt “Danger” Schnell in one of the featured bouts at Legacy Fighting Championship 49.
His highest profile yet, this will either be his coming out party or his hype ender.
He’s aware of that but it doesn’t bother him at all.
“I try and think every fight is a big fight. I try to respect all my opponent. The fight can always go either way but it’s you up and how smart you fight that matters. I think I’m well-rounded. I train in everything I can and I try new things to see if and how it works. I want to be one of the greatest fighters ever. This is my passion and I will work to get myself to the top. If that’s where I’m supposed to be then so it should be. To Matt, I’d just say good luck and let’s go in there and give it our all!”
