Headcanoning that in Stargirl season 2 episode 10, Dickie was genuinely seeing Emily, but he then pretended that it was all an act to manipulate Barbara, because he would rather look like a heartless mastermind than a vulnerable person with feelings who cares about people
tell me about the Shade. fill in that lil blorbo chart and tell me all about him!! i want to know what i'm missing out on!!!
Based on aesthetic I think you'd like him. I was first introduced to him in issue 1 of James Robinson's Starman run, it begins by narrating "the shadowy, shadowy gentleman" as he writes in his journal. Dapper Victorian man who is really cool and also has angst. He likes to be a villain for the fun of fighting the Flash. He is so powerful but also has angst and has suffered. He's canonically been friends with Oscar Wilde and Charles Dickens. My favourite things with him so far are the Shade (1997) #3, and Stargirl Season 2 episodes 2, 3 and 10. Specifically in Stargirl, I've circled "bastard" because he's like the posh, cool version of a little shit. He loves to just scare people when they first see him. Jonathan Cake has become my favourite actor, he embodies him perfectly.
I am also so so normal about his non-romantic relationships. Him and Jay Garrick, him and Starman (I haven't read enough yet though), him and Dr Mid-Nite, him and Barbara Whitmore, him and Maria from the diner (he makes her brew tea 44 times until she can finally make the perfect cup).
