🌷 Family game night with Jughead & FP (reader being Jug’s year younger sister)
I’m starting on my sleepover asks now! I’m doing the drabble ones in a random order of when I feel inspired to do them so I promise I’m not ignoring yours if it takes a while!
“No, no no no. What is it?” Jughead prodded the paper in front of him harshly, his finger touching the page just underneath where he had drawn a picture. Of what? That was what happened to still be unknown. The family of three had been sat there for what felt like ten years, trying to decipher whatever Jughead had scribbled onto the paper.
“Wait, what are we looking at here?” FP asked, whilst his daughter - Jughead’s younger sister - was cackling with laughter beside him, tears streaming down her cheeks by how much she had been giggling.
The Jones family hadn’t always been too close at Christmas. This was the first year that FP, Jughead, and Y/N would be having a good Christmas together after FP’s drinking problem throughout their childhood. Whilst their mother and younger sister wouldn’t be with them for the holidays, it was special to have the three of them together again, in a good relationship. FP was sober for months at this point, and the siblings weren’t couch surfing anymore.
Their family was happy. Finally.
Game night on Christmas Eve had been Y/N’s idea initially. It was no hiding that Christmas was her favourite holiday, and she wanted to make it extra special since it was going to be a good Christmas with the family. Though a game of Pictionary clearly had just lead to frustration when Jughead and his horrible drawing skills had their turn at the game.
“Come on! It’s so easy!” Jughead groaned and prodded the paper again, as if that would help him, whilst FP just squinted his eyes and tilted his head a little.
“A tree?”
“No!” Jughead yelled, before the timer that indicated the end of the round had gone off. “Come on, guys, it’s Elf! You know - the Christmas movie?”
“That’s an elf?” Y/N tilted her head a little before she just burst into laughter again and leaned into her father, who had slung an arm around her shoulders as he started chuckling too.
“I’ve told you before, I write. I don’t draw.” Jughead grumbled as he took his seat back on the sofa on the other side of Y/N, lifting up his half-consumed cup of hot-chocolate to have the rest of it. “You two just need your eyes checked.”
“Sorry your drawing sucks.” Y/N giggled and playfully nudged her older brother’s leg as she stood up.
The young girl lifted up the marker that had been previously used and turned the Pictionary board to a new page - where, after uncapping the pen and starting the timer, she started to draw a dog paw.
About five seconds went past before FP clicked his fingers as he sat up a little. “Oh! That’s Santa Paws.” He told his daughter, who nodded as she jumped up and down in success.
Jughead glanced between the two in bewilderment, his mouth hanging open. “Are you kidding me? You don’t get Elf but you get Santa Paws? How- when have you even seen Santa Paws?” He turned to look at his dad as Y/N started giggling, clearly finding entertainment in her older brother’s annoyance as she sat back down in between them again.
“Just accept that you’re a sore loser and move on.” She giggled, playfully winking at Jughead as she got her own mug of hot chocolate to drink some, smiling into her drink when her father had started chuckling beside her as well.
