what inspired tyche's name? gabbie's name is common enough (just a shorthand for gabriella like how gabe is a shorthand for gabriel). or am i overthinking your thought process lol
I wanted a name that sounded like Tycho so I started looking up Ty- names for women. I stumbled upon Tyche, a Greek goddess of fortune and luck. There's a synergy there with one of Jerry's other pseudo-self inserts, Omin Dran from AcqInc, who is a cleric that at the time worshipped what was functionally the DND equivalent to the same goddess.
So there certainly was a process! It just was a quick one. Tracy was in the running iirc but I lucked out in finding a kind of an obscure name that had a meaning to it that worked on a few different levels.
Though just as an aside-- Gabbie in this context is a nickname for Gabriel! Gabe's name comes from his surname. His first name is Jonathan. Gabbie's full name is Joanna Gabriel.
Did you ever give Gabbie a full name? (Like Gabe's full name being Jonathan Gabriel) I'd love to know if you did!!
Joanna Gabriel! I didn't think a surname change was necessary. Gabbie is just a variation on that.

I don't have a drawing on me rn but I actually had a whole OTRSPOD AU for them where Tyche killed her dad and older brother and posed as a man in order to fulfill the Brahe family's clan goal her way (because she was Correct™ and they were doing it wrong) and Gabbie. Well there was no Gabbie, but Gabe was some flavor of trans masc and they were getting their own flavor of queer and complicated about it. What if you thought I was a hot ass man but I was a girl and I was a girl and I had to pretend to be a man so I couldn't acknowledge my attraction to a man or else I'd be seen as a gay. And we kissed about it...🤭
