For sleepover weekend: When you were making all those terror gifs (thank u for this service btw!!) and looking so closely at each scene, did anything surprise you about the characters or the story? Like little insights you may not have noticed otherwise?

i feel bad, i wish i had some wonderfully deep insight to share with you but it's been a minute since my last rewatch of the terror. i started giffing the show in fall 2022 and it basically took me 2 years of posting daily to complete the whole series by fall 2024. i'm SURE there are things i noticed in the midst of giffing the show, but the things that stuck with me are ones that probably aren't new. but off the top of my head here are a few:
i found it so incredibly sweet how tenderly tozer took care of heather after he was attacked. when i first watched the show i think the marines all blended together in my brain and i thought it was all of them, but giffing the series and going through it scene by scene really made clear how tozer was the one really leading the cause to take care of him and watch over him so closely. it was sweet to witness.
of all the characters, i feel like little goes through the biggest physical transformation. the version of little who shows up in e1 and e2 is just. an ENTIRELY different man to me. barely recognizable, which is hilarious bc little is definitely my poor little meow mew.
as seen in this gifset i made, i found it fascinating how crozier pretty consistently calls goodsir doctor from the very beginning of the show EXCEPT for 2 lines in 1.05 aka crozier's rock bottom. which just feels incredibly significant—he calls him "mr. goodsir" to little while already drunk, and then he calls him "mr. goodsir" to his face after goodsir's upset it. it definitely feels like he's punishing/demoting him in that moment and that feels just the right amount of petty and vindictive for crozier. and then respecting goodsir saying he doesn't feel like a doctor anymore and so removing the honorific for that final conversation! but still calling him dr. goodsir to hickey's face? i donno man, it makes me feel A LOT.
also maybe the most impressive thing i learned while giffing the whole series is that i know most of the characters by name and sight now lol. i can actually differentiate between all the different white men!! so proud of myself 😅
there's probably more but unfortunately!! i think i need to do a big rewatch of the series to jog my memory and right now that's gotta wait a bit
