seriously though, "directed by jongho" made me giggle

oh absolutely, it would be “directed by jongho and juliet” bc they’re the evil (affectionate) twins of ateez 🤭🤭🤭🤭 they’d keep teasing yunsanhwa too (lovingly) during the filming 😭 telling them to amp up the aegyo “san cmon u can do better than that”
why do i feel like ateez in a haunted house ends up with julie and jongho serenading the ‘ghosts’ because hongjoong is about to pass out from fear and mingi suggests they distract the ‘ghosts’
jongliet having their lil karaoke session (though she’s also holding onto his sleeve and making him go first) and halahalahalahalahalaziaing with the ghosts while you hear hongjoong san and mingi’s distant screams in the background 😭😭😭😭😭
she’s so unconfrontational that she’ll try to avoid fighting at all costs…and sometimes that buildup of negative emotions will cause her to get really snippy and she might say stuff she doesn’t mean, which mostly leads to arguments w wooyoung and jongho bc they’re usually the ones who fire back immediately </3
it never lasts more than a few days bc 1) hongjoong will definitely make sure they talk it out properly and 2) they love eo so they feel terrible after fighting, and once they’ve calmed down they know it’s time to set aside their stubbornness and apologise :’) with 2young/jongliet they’re literally the “why are they holding hands then / bc they get sad when they fight” meme 😭
these kinds of fights are rare though, maybe only a few times a year (not counting small/harmless bickers) bc she’s usually really good w cooling herself off if something annoys her before talking it out w the person
summary: in which jongho helps juliet work some things out.
a/n: jongho best boy. that’s all i have to say 🥺 after rewriting this a bit and adding a bonus scene i honestly like this scenario a lot more hghghh ;-;

[ rewritten !! ]
“Hey,” Jongho says as he barges into Juliet’s room. He’d normally refrain from doing so for privacy’s sake, but her door was left wide open, so he went right in. “Do you want to get din—ARGH!”
He thought that by now he should be completely immune to Juliet’s… questionable antics given that they’ve known and lived with each other for years, but perhaps he thought wrong, because he walked in on the maknae dangling upside down on her bed, eyes eerily unfocused as she stares into space.
The yelp that escapes him causes Juliet to let out one of her own. With a loud thud, she falls off the bed backwards and hits the top of her head on the floor.
“Ow! Choi Jongho, what the hell? What are you doing?”
“What am I doing?” he echoes incredulously, “what are you doing?” Juliet sits up with a pout as she rubs the now sore spot on her head. “I walk in on you recreating the Spider-Man upside-down kiss alone in your bedroom!”
She huffs and rolls her eyes at him. “I’m not recreating anything! I was thinking about something when you so rudely barged in!”
“Shouldn’t have left your door wide open then. You still wanna get dinner?”
Jongho watches in mild confusion as Juliet slinks back onto her bed like a slug before burying her entire face into the pillow. Her words are muffled against the material when she says, “Maybe later, I’m sick.”
“What?” Now alarmed, Jongho makes his way over to her bedside, nudging her to turn over so she’s now lying on her back before pressing a hand to her forehead. “Your temperature feels normal. Do you wanna go see the doctor?”
“No, I’m not sick physically. I just... feel funny,” Juliet explains with a sigh, eyes unfocused as she stares at the ceiling.
Jongho drags the fluffy stool out from under her tiny vanity and plops down on it. “Like how?”
Yet another deep exhale. “Have you ever talked to someone and... felt funny afterwards?”
The boy frowns. “Funny? What do you mean by that?”
“Like... your cheeks feel hot, your heart starts beating really fast, and you just feel really… giddy. And when they leave it makes you feel… disappointed? Sad? I don’t know, something like that.”
Jongho blinks as he processes her words. Then he bursts into giggles. “I think you’re lovesick,” he teases, poking her cheek with a finger, “or at the very least, you have a crush.”
“I do?”
“I mean, that’s what it sounds like to me. What else would make you feel this way?”
Juliet falls silent. Shit, she has a crush.
“Shit, I have a crush. What do I do?”
“Forget about that for a sec,” Jongho interrupts, “this is news to me! Who is it? Who were you talking to that made you feel that way?”
“No one.”
“Can I guess?”
“No.”
“Please?”
“No.”
“I’m gonna guess anyways. Felix?”
“What? No! That’s—ew! That’s like me dating one of you guys!”
He snorts. “You once had a crush on Seonghwa-hyung, though.”
“Keyword—once.”
“Is it Dino-sunbaenim?”
Juliet groans. Busted. “That obvious, huh?”
“You’ve never been subtle with these kinda things,” Jongho says smugly. “Seonghwa-hyung was just somehow more oblivious. Honestly, Dino-sunbaenim was gonna be my first guess, but with all the insisting you did about you two being ‘just friends’—which none of us bought, by the way—I thought I’d give you the benefit of the doubt.”
“Well, just because I have a crush on him doesn’t mean we aren’t still just friends.”
“So you do admit you have a crush on him.”
Without warning, Juliet flings one of her plushies at him, huffing in frustration when he manages to catch it at the last second. “Jongho, help me! What do I do?”
“I mean, you only have two options—tell him, or don’t.”
“Wow, thanks, Sherlock Holmes! Why didn’t I think of that?”
“What else can you do?”
“Take this secret to my grave when I die,” she announces dramatically, covering her eyes with the back of her hand like a musical theatre actress.
Jongho snorts, gently tossing the plushie—funnily, he doesn’t recognise this bunny, perhaps a certain someone gave it to her?—back onto her bed. “Very funny. But seriously, are you planning on telling him? Do you know if he feels the same way?”
Juliet sits up so quickly that it gives him whiplash, and she levels him an unimpressed stare. “Gimme a minute. Let me just read his mind and I’ll let you know!”
“Point taken. But in all seriousness... be careful, okay?”
The sudden change in his tone causes her brows to knit together in confusion and worry. “Why?” Her eyes then narrow suspiciously. “Do you know something that I don’t?”
“No, no, I don’t mean it like that,” Jongho rushes to explain, “it’s just that—how should I say this... we’ve looked up to SEVENTEEN-sunbaenim as role models for so long, and I think it’s safe to say you never expected yourself to actually be acquainted with one of their members.”
Juliet hums in agreement, gesturing for him to continue. “You have to make sure this crush isn’t a subconscious result of being starstruck by someone you used to put on this pedestal.”
“So… what you’re saying is… I could be confusing being starstruck with having a crush?”
Jongho makes a noise of affirmation. “Well, of course you might actually have a crush. What I’m saying is that you should differentiate if it’s because you like him as a person, or if you just like the idea of being with someone you idolised. You don’t have to rush to come to a conclusion. Take your time and you’ll figure it out eventually, and hopefully that’ll avoid causing you two hurt and confusion.”
Admittedly, Juliet hasn’t been giving this as much thought as she should be, and she’s now suddenly grateful Jongho happened upon her during her mini crisis. She processes his words for a bit, concluding that without a doubt, he is a hundred percent correct.
“You’re right,” she says, a tiny smile stretching across her lips, “I’ll give myself some time to sort out these feelings before doing anything.”
Jongho nods approvingly, looking far too much like a proud parent for someone who’s less than a year older than her. “Yeah, that’s good. Glad we got that worked out before you do something stupidly impulsive,” he teases.
“Which is why you all are lucky I am neither of those things.”
“Who knows?” Jongho says cheekily. “Love can change a person entirely—” He’s cut off by his own yelp as Juliet lifts a foot in an attempt to kick him off her stool, causing him to almost topple over as he dodges her attacks. “I’m kidding! I’m kidding! Stop kicking me so we can go eat!”
“Are you paying?”
She can’t help but cackle at the way his smile drops instantly, eyes wide as he stares at her in scandalisation as though she said something utterly ridiculous. Perhaps she has.
“I gave you amazing advice free of charge and you want me to pay for dinner?”
“Ey, I was just messing with you, obviously it’s on me. I get to choose where we eat, though.”
Jongho scoffs as they make their way out of her room. “As if I don’t already let you pick every time.”
BONUS !!
Juliet sets her spoon down, looking up at the boy sitting across from her. He doesn’t realise she’s staring at him, too busy enjoying his food to notice.
“Hey,” she calls softly, successful in getting Jongho’s attention. His head lifts, eyes wide with curiosity.
She smiles at the sight of his stuffed cheeks. “I was thinking about what you said earlier while waiting for our food,” she admits. “Thank you, I really needed to hear that, and I’m genuinely glad you were there to give me advice.”
Jongho blinks. “You’re being so sappy,” he finally says after swallowing, though he returns her smile with one of his own. “Of course I’ll be there for you, when am I not? Gotta make sure my little sister doesn’t get her heart broken.”
“Who’s the sappy one now, huh?”
“You started it! Now eat up, your food’s getting cold.”
