| Good Cop; Bad Cop |
Jaebum glares down at the text lighting up his screen. Not only do they want him to race around the city to tempt information out of people about the other Salvatore members, now they want him to go to the police station to give a statement. Like a criminal. Like someone who has something to hide. It’s part of some action plan someone at the top has agreed to with the police, some way of trying to cooperate with the police to gain their trust back. Jaebum isn’t the biggest fan of the police, even though he’s worked with them a few times.
He’s bitter about having to go into the police department to be interrogated about his involvement in the event of the fire. But whether he’s willing or not, this is something he’s being told to do. So he shoves the phone back in his pocket, not gracing the person on the other end with a response.
He arrives at the station shortly after he’s supposed to be there, hood on, and hands shoved deep into his pockets. He hates being there, all the cameras and eyes on him making him feel like a criminal. He gets escorted to one of the private rooms, and Jaebum scoffs silently. He’s being ‘talked to’ in an actual interrogation room, complete with the visual and audio equipment as well as the one way mirror. You’ve got to be kidding.
But the officers who led him into the room don’t look to be joking as they exit the room, closing the door behind them. So Jaebum sits himself down at the ‘criminal’ side of the table, eyes staring into the one-way glass, face molded into a mask of indifference, but fury simmering just below the surface.
