“Is that a compliment? Why does it sound like you’re mocking me though?” She scrunches her nose at him playfully. “I have such a hard-working boyfriend. I’m proud of you too.” She looks at him with her chin up, smiling in a manner as if challenging him to retaliate, and in a way her method of hiding that sheepish feeling at his arm being around her shoulders.
“I will,” she nods her head. “Even if I don’t want to, your sister is pretty determine to make sure I do. She relaxes too much so in turn I nag at her to study.” Not sure if she should cry or laugh at the amount of ridiculous antics her roommate is always up to. It is definitely stressful now, but she’s positive it would be worth it later on.
“Are we reaching the food stand soon? Is the food any good?” She isn’t certain if it’s because of the horror movie they watched or for other reason, she’s starting to feel a little hungry after all these while, even though the main reason was just to spend more time with her boyfriend in the first place.
Jaebum grins back at her, taking advantage of the way her face was already turned upwards to peck her softly on the lips. “Of course I’m not mocking you,” he joked lightly, “What sort of boyfriend would I be then?”
He chuckles, “Maybe that’s why you two make such good roommates. You balance each other out.” They were an odd pair, with very little in common, but it was cute to see their friendship blossom.
“It’s just that one right there,” Jaebum points across the street at a small solitary stall. There weren’t very many people there, just a pair of females sitting at the table to the left. “I used to go here for late night snacks when I was in university with my roommate. They’re food is pretty good, I’d say.” They reach the stall soon afterwards, and Jaebum orders some food, and they wait for their order to arrive.
It’s just his luck that a male voice sounds out from behind them, “Interesting to see you walking around here, don’t you have more important things to do? More people to see?” The voice is sneering, and seems a little familiar. Why that is, is made apparent when Jaebum turns around to see a rather unfriendly face. It was another male with whom he had a brief run-in with. The male was a runner for another gang, he believed it was Black Lotus. And the last time they had met, Jaebum had stolen the attention of someone the kid was interested in doing a deal with, in order to snag some information. Evidently, there was some grudge-holding going on, but there was always some form of that out in the real world.
Jaebum feigns a smile, “And it’s lovely to see you, too, walking about, taking up space. Does your mother know you’re out this late? If not, I’m sure I could send her a message for you. You know, so she doesn’t worry.” He maintains the friendly smile on his face, but it doesn’t quite reach his eyes. If the kid knew what type of things he did for Salvatore, it was very easy to read between the lines, and the other seemed to be fairly bright, as there was an obvious change in demeanor. There was definitely an air of hostility, and Jaebum makes a mental note to check up on who this kid was, and gather some sort of leverage once he got home. The kid shoots him a glare before muttering something under his breath and striding away. Jaebum hums lightly, turning back to the vendor to receive their food. “Do you want to eat here or back home?”
