The tankard of beer left out for Jör appears to be a kind gesture, maybe even an apology for not being there to greet him in person on his arrival.
In actual fact the tankard is filled with a lemon jelly, disguised with a spell to smell like beer, but semi-solid in consistency, and tasting quite sour. Loki's last prank of the day before retiring to bed.
Jörmungandr looked at the tankard suspiciously, he knew his father and brothers all loved this day. He picked it up and took a sniff, just beer. He looked around, hesitating before taking a test sip and coughing at the sour taste that filled his mouth. “Dad! Really? The beer?”

Jörmungandr waited until they were alone in Vedas apartment to shift into a man, cupping his lovers face. "I missed your birthday? Why didn't you say anything?" He frowned, kissing Veda softly.
"Do I need to worry about you?" (for jör, from @harmbidder)
Jör hummed, looking down at the blade in his hand. "I am...angry. As all of my fathers sons are at some point. We have not been treated fairly and I wish to find someone to blame. So probably."
"I might regret this after the hangover, but right now, I need you to know that… being with you feels like home." Veda to Jör

Jörmungandr looked down at the man in his arms, smiling softly. They had both had a long day, and when he came over, they had fallen onto the couch and not moved. "I haven't had a home in thousands of years. You have given me that little love."

Jörmungandr looked up at a familiar scent on the wind. Looking around for the cause, a bit like a frantic child who had let go of their parents' hand. It had been centuries since he had seen his father. Suddenly, he was a child again, being dragged away from his home and family, begging his grandfather to please let him stay.
"Father?"

Jörmungandr wasn’t entirely sure what was happening, one moment he was sunbathing on a rock and the next he was being picked up by a man asking what he was doing out here. He blinked at the man, tongue flicking out to taste the air around him. It would be easy to just…shift back. Be a man again and ask the strangers why he was picking up strange snakes but then he was being carefully tucked into a jacket and it was warmer here. He shifted, slithering his way around the man until he was comfortable and falling back asleep.

"Well, I woke up alone staring at my ceiling. I try not to care but it hurts my feelings."
