Retronaut Selects: Brasko - SEXDREAMSUPERSTAR (2019)

I first heard about Brasko after I saw live videos of him on Eve Harper Close's instagram stories.

Before the album was released, I listened to all of the singles so I could give everything a proper listen and to be prepared for the album.

Then, Brasko does the coolest thing ever. At the time, his album was going to come out on Wednesday (9/18), and he released one more single at the last minute on Friday (9/13), and I just think that that's seriously awesome.

The album is excellent, and it's all I've been listening to lately, even multiple times a day, which is rare for me unless I'm super into an album.

It's different, original, and cool. It's ambient, but it has a this momentum that effortlessly makes you want to keep listening, just to see what's gonna happen next.

It's the most interesting album of the year, so stop what you're doing and give it a listen.

Jordan Gable, has released catchy tune after tune making us all want to hear more. With newly released single “Didn’t Mean It” we had to catch up on feedback, and what’s next, an album maybe? Read and find out! We appreciate the time Jordan, can’t wait to hear more! All the love, Alex from ED. 

Electric Daze: How are you? I’ve recently been listening to your latest track “Didn’t Mean It” it’s such a catchy song, how has the feedback been? 

Jordan Gable: Hello! I am about as well as I can be. Thank you so much, my friend. The feedback has been the best out of the songs I’ve released this year. You never know how things will play out - it took me weeks to write ‘Fool of Me’ and maybe an hour to write 'Didn’t Mean It’. 

ED: You’ve released track after track, can we expect an album anytime soon? 

JG: I actually have one more single I’m gonna release and yes a bundle of songs are in the talks now. Whether that be a record or ep, I can’t say yet, but indeed a group  of unheard songs will be coming.

ED: What’s something important you’ve learned in the music industry? 

JG: You don’t matter. Someone will always be better than you. Writing is like fishing. Someone will always catch a bigger one no matter how big the one in your hands are…or if you have the biggest one, people will move on very quickly from it. But he who shows up every day with their rod in the pond will nevertheless catch good ones. Also, there’s a freedom in knowing only you can be you. No one can do that better. They can try…but they will inevitably fail.

ED: What can people expect when going to a show to see you play? 

JG: Some people get surprised by my live show. My (wonderful) band and I tend to push the songs a bit more. 4 part harmonies. Big thick guitars (a lot more drive than on my recordings). I like highlighting all the energetic attributes of the songs people know and just turn it into a party that everyone feels like they’re a part of.

ED: What’s your drive when writing a song? 

JG: Let the song write itself. I’m just scratching off the ticket with a penny (the penny being my piano, guitar, or whatever is lying around).

ED: Random fact about you?

JG: I eat Mexican food almost every single day. I’m a huge Todd Rundgren fan. I’m a huge Cleveland Cavaliers fan.

ED: Do you ever go back to a song and think you should’ve this and this different?

JG: I am definitely a perfectionist. But as far as the song itself goes, I usually trust my gut instinct. Because that’s what people listen with. First 10 seconds into a song, someone knows if they feel the way you want them to or not. So I usually wish I played a guitar part with a different pedal or had a different sub melody on keys but I let the song itself be.

ED: Anything else you’d like to say?

JG: Just three words.
