Tom Misch and Yussef Dayes perform NPR Music’s Tiny Desk (Home) Concert series, with Jordan Rakei, John Mayer, Tom Driessler, Rocco Palladino, and Joel Culpepper. British guitarist/producer Tom Misch and extraordinary drummer Yussef Dayes were the latest participants in NPR Music‘s Tiny Desk (Home) Concert series. They perform two songs from their collaborative debut album “What Kinda Music”. The album was released by Blue Note Records earlier this year and landed at number one position on the Contemporary Jazz Album chart. Watch below a video of Tom Misch and Yussef Dayes perform for NPR Music’s Tiny Desk (Home) Concert series, featuring special guests Jordan Rakei and John Mayer: Musicians recorded their parts separately as the video kicks off with “Nightrider” with Tom Driessler on bass, Jordan Rakei on backing vocals and John Mayer contributing a guitar solo towards the end of the track. As a second song duo perform “Tidal Wave” with bassist Rocco Palladino vocalist Joel Culpepper. Uk jazz outfit Waaju released a new single “Listening Glasses”

Uk jazz quintet Waaju released a new single “Listening Glasses” from their forthcoming second album "Grown". Since debut self-titled album released in 2018 via London’s independent label Olindo Records, the band’s sound has developed, as we can say “grown”. They took influence from a number of cultures across Africa, South America & beyond, adding new dimensions to their sound. The record will also feature a song co-written with Jordan Rakei. Waaju is led by drummer and percussionist Ben Brown (Alfa Mist, Dizraeli, Ashley Henry), and comprising members across the UK’s extensive music scene including, percussionist Ernesto Marichales (Jordan Rakei, Sigala), guitarist Tal Janes (Nubiyan Twist, Bahla), Sam Rapley (Fabled, Maria Chiara Argiro) and Joe Downard (China Moses, Judi Jackson). Waaju’s unique and divergent sound connects the dots between the all of those influences around the globe, samba, salsa, rumba, jazz and African blues. Waaju formed as a means of exploring music’s hidden connections, from trance-inducing Moroccan gnawa to Caribbean carnival music, and embracing them to reflect the different layers of London’s own musical culture. Waaju drummer Ben Brown said: “The amazing thing about music is that one can display the belief, compassion and love that takes a lifetime to acquire, in just a few seconds. As well as all these things, I hope this snapshot gives a glimpse into undiscovered places in the world and in ourselves”.
