Bumblebee (2018)
This film will fully restore your faith in the Transformers franchise.
If you ever watched any of the Transformers movies you know that Bumblebee is a fan favorite. Thanks to him there are yellow and black Camaros on every corner. In this installment you get to see Bumblebee in the 80’s protecting the humans of earth and being the adorable piece of metal he is.
This prequel starts off with a war happening in CYBERTRON!!! I capitalized it because we actually get to see the planet alive and semi thriving cause as I said there’s like war happening. Optimus Prime (in his 80’s attire!!!) sends Bumblebee to hide on earth and protect it from the Decepticons until his fellow Autobots come to Earth. Unfortunately the Decepticons find Bumblebee, try to fight him, and our favorite robot transforms into a little yellow Volkswagen Buggy for safety. A car loving girl named Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld) revives Bumblebee and from that moment on a friendship is born and trouble is evoked.
Okay so you can obviously tell that I am obsessed with the Transformers franchise. No matter how bad the movies get I will never say no to seeing a new one. I’m gonna be honest there is going to be absolutely no structure to this review cause it’s just gonna be me ranting about how great it is so I apologize in advance.
This movie was amazing cause it had so much god damn HEART. The bond between Charlie and Bumblebee is so pure. I dead ass cried three separate times not because it was sad but because it was just so damn cute! The acting is phenomenal, all the action is dazzling, and you get to hear BUMBLEBEE TALK!!! He is voiced by the one and only Dylan O’Brien and I was SHOOK. Also I liked how Charlie has a male friend but there was no forced romance. I’m all about them letting her be a fucking bad ass. Speaking of Charlie, her character is the future. She is not only a hard worker, she’s caring, and she isn’t afraid of anything. She’s an angsty teen, for reasons I can’t say cause I’ll spoil it, but also the most loyal bitch to Bee since Sam Witwicky. I mean technically Charlie Walked so Sam could run. I’m so happy they picked Hailee for this part and I hope there’s another film with her in it.
In conclusion to the messiest review I’ve ever written, Bumblebee is a shining example of what makes this franchise so good and so damn lovable. Although I was happy seeing the journey of Bee, I would love to see a prequel with Optimus Prime cause honestly I wrote this entire thing with his voice in my head.
