nick and nora in the thin man series, huck and scharwenka in roberta, oscar and peggy in you were meant for me josh and dinah in barkleys of broadway. i rly love relationships that show the characters as being comfortable with each other, even if theyre not already married. bantering, not putting up with each others nonsense, things that prove theyre confident in the relationship. i always prefer that to the love at first sight or man pursues woman tropes that the movies used more commonly
6: Top 3 friendships between characters
mary, the countess and miriam in the women, paul and sid in humoresque, harry and holly in the third man. these are so different tho omg. i love all the dynamics in the women and how marys new friends help her to learn how to deal with her situation; paul and sids friendship i think mirrors how oscar probably was towards a billion ppl in his life and i rly love how their friendship shows aspects of their personalities; and then i mean the third man wouldnt even exist without harry and hollys friendship and that entire movie is so perfect im gonna cry
26: Top 3 obscure series/movies/books I recommend
the man with a cloak: historical mystery starring joseph cotten. its rly cool and also hilarious, and actually pretty fascinating (reminds me of an episode of thriller or the outer limits tbh). plus theres a butler like a professional wrestler and i ask u what more do u need
journey into fear: whoops more joseph cotten but its just a fun sorta low-budget adventure. and orson welles plays a turkish policeman and im still not over it
you were meant for me: i have to mention this because i mean…its not an actually good movie for the most part (i still dont know what happened w/that ending) but OSCAR. it is srsly one of his best performances because hes not just like the wisecracking guy who plays classical piano (altho he is still wisecracking lol)
