Now that I think about it Ramsey can turn anything into gold. so why is it that he looks like he lives in poverty?
(obviously take what I am about to say as just Fan speculation, I only know about as much as anyone who’s watched season 1)
So I’m pretty sure it’s implied that Ramsey either stays in a run down studio apartment (possibly multiple he uses as safe houses) or at the very least a cheep motel (hinted at his suitcase seen in the shot) keeping that in mind, his epithet is “Goldbricker” a “Goldbricker” was a term used to describe someone who would take something heavy (a brick) and paint it with gold or a gold like substance, and then turn around and try to sell that item as something “solid gold” (aka a Scam / Conman). Ramsey’s powers are not something that work permanently, as far as we’ve been told by Percy, the items he uses to scam business owners and the wealthy at one point or another turn back into their original substance.
Sure Ramsey has netted millions of dollars in the process, but what good is the money when you cant keep up the ruse long enough to spend it? I never got the impression that Ramsey was a greedy / bad person, i bet the majority of the money’s he made he’s given away. His life style is dangerous and chaotic so he has to live light and be able to move at a moments notice. This is probably why hes not off living in a high profile mansion somewhere, being on the run from Zora would take up a lot of his time, ya know?
Maybe his original plan was to get rich, live it up and maybe screw over some corrupt suits along the way. What we know for sure is once you’ve pissed off enough high profile people, suddenly there’s a considerable bounty on your head and plenty of people who want to see you buried 6 feet under. that alone makes it a little difficult to live in luxury...
