Martin and Asgore: While both are fathers who end up estranged from their families, both also look quite similar—blonde fathers who wear goofy shirts—and on the surface share similar personalities, being goofy. The difference is that while both experienced a huge incident that caused their personalities to shift, Martin is in denial, has pretty much stopped caring about his daughters, and is selfish. Asgore, while letting his issues with what happened that day make him insensitive to everyone (thus causing a falling out with his family), ultimately is able to wake up from this and change for the better. It says something that he’s willing to clear things up with his friends and family, while Molly disowns her dad, realizing he’ll never change.
Calliope and Toriel are pretty similar, aside from one not being dead. While both on the surface seem like normal people, it’s heavily implied that had Calliope lived and Martin died, she would have been an overbearing helicopter parent, as opposed to Martin’s immense neglect. This shows that even though Calliope appears to be a much better parent and person than her husband, she was ultimately just as dysfunctional and selfish as he was, because she never really grew as a person from her husband’s carefree influence, even though he was the only one who could calm her down from her workaholic, neurotic flaws. Toriel, meanwhile, shows remorse for her actions, yet she still displays some insensitivity by sneaking out to get drunk with Sans without telling Kris—though Kris has their own plans, so it’s far more complicated.
Molly and Kris could not be more different. Due to Martin’s carefree nature, Molly had to grow up early and is thus far more mature. Similar to Noelle of all people, she is a doormat—at least until she grows a spine—and then becomes more honest. Kris was a goofy prankster kid when younger and is now more reserved, similar to Molly, but is still a goofball weirdo. However, both are shown to be rather sane compared to their companions’ quirks, and of course are far smarter than they seem or look. They have anger, sadness, and a cynical nature which, for Molly, is due to being neglected by everyone, while for Kris it stems from a myriad of things: the family falling out, that mysterious day, soul issues, and whatever their deal is.
Lorelai and Asriel could not be more different—or so it seems from what we know for now. As of Chapter 5, Asriel is a nice guy, an ace who’s pretty much good at everything he does, has good social standing, and overall has a good everything in life, but is ultimately a greater-scope character to the story whose influence is felt while he is not seen (while at college). Lorelai, meanwhile, is a shut-in who’s bratty, though she has more than what she seems. Like Asriel, she was a cool big sibling to her sister, but the incident of their mother’s death caused her to retreat into her dream-bubble fantasies. This is ironic because Dark Worlds are personifications of dreams and fantasy, and Asriel has yet to enter a Dark World or connect to one—even more ironic given that his Undertale self is connected to the themes of Hopes and Dreams. Anyhow, Asriel seems to genuinely care toward his younger siblings still, if Kris’s words are anything to go by. This means Lorelai is oblivious to her own jerkishness, shirks responsibilities, is pissed off at having to do anything to help Molly, and anytime she does help, it’s always for her own benefit rather than Molly’s. Ironically enough, most of her behavior makes her similar to UT Asriel—or better known as Flowey.
revamped the Calico Trio again woohoo! I haven't shown off their newer redesigns on here yet🤔🤔🤔
I'll start off with Asher first, she actually has lore now! I wanted to do something with her since I didn't like how she was the only "joke" ish character in the trio??? I didnt word it right but you get what I mean.
I did want her to be more taken seriously than how she was intended for since she was the anti Phoenica of the trio. She's still rebelious and a "troublemaker" but Asher has WAAAY more personality now than she had before.
Arnold's her uncle but shes A LOT more closer to him now than she was before, seeing him as her parental figure.
Her home situation isn't the best that she'll often sneak out to go to her uncle's place whenever he's around. Arnold doesn't really mind her staying for a couple of nights at his place but isn't sure why she does it a lot. Whenever he tries to talk to her she would often brush it off, it shouldn't be his concern at least what she says... What he does keep in mind is that Asher has a really sensitive smell, specifically to alcoholic drinks, mostly beer and cigarette smoke. Arnold tries his best to not keep those around her because she would feel overwhelmed and disturbed by scent of those.
He isn't sure why but he does suspect something is going on with her life right now.
Info card for Asher!
Now Tawny, of course I don't really have much to say about him because I'm still developing her lore at the moment. However I will say though that their parents discard her emotions a lot and only provide his wants instead of their needs.
Tawny's whole development was screwed up because of them because she would merely be babied and dumbed down which he hates a lot (not being able to go outside of the circus a lot because they're "protecting" him which means they were homeschooled a lot). This twisted her whole mindset of emotions and relationships, being seen as a distraction to him.
Tawny doesn't want to depend on others but wants others to depend on them, she wants to get stronger even if her epithet weakens her. She'll never open up to anyone about his own problems and worries unless it's her closest friends, Asher and Anadil.
Info card for Tawny!
Now, last but not least is Anadil! Her lore's more messed up now :D
Anadil's still the same sweet girl you all know, however her past is more of a mysterious for her to solve. Her mother dissapeared when she was very young to even remember who she was, now has this brief idea of her being a police officer. Her caretaker doesn't seem to bring her up that much which she doesn't understand why no matter how much she tries to get answers out of him.
This has motivated her into solving her mother's mystery, and perhaps filling in the gaps of what was lost as Sweet Jazz's Junior Detective! Though, this made Anadil resemble her mother too much. Throughout her life, the adults in her life has given nothing more than extra care because of her past. A lot of kids were jealous of how she was treated which often caused a lot of conflict, though it didn't last long due to a few adults noticing the conflicts itself.
It always felt unsettling to a lot of people that she looked exactly like her mother. Anadil was quite literally the little version of her mom, which she would often get compared to a lot.
Everyone in her life would always see her walking in her mother's footsteps, never Anadil herself— not even she noticed it herself on how much people saw her as her mother's legacy. Asher and Tawny didn't like the adults that were involved in her life, such as her caretaker. Anadil had this naive nature beside her, not being aware of what was around her. She's quite the naive detective herself, not knowing what the outcome is.
Info card for Anadil!
I can't really believe how much they have changed😭 I remember they used to be only just the anti version of the Neo Trio, now theyre much more than just being that🥹 All of them having their own characteristics instead of them just being pararells of the Neo trio all together, they bring me a lot of joy !!! GO MY LITTLE CALICOLINGS!!!
Here are their portraits! I might put in a link that leads to all of their other portraits with different expressions, however that's something for next time!
I guess i'll provide little facts about each of the girls!
- Asher still hates romance, she doesn't like the depictions of it. I don't think she would mind it in person but I don't think Asher will ever get into a relationship not because shes too young, but because she can't see herself in one. (just to clarify, Asher's aroace but not in the typical "hating romance" way)
- Tawny's agender and goes by any pronouns! He literally doesn't care what you refer to them as, just don't refer strictly refer to her with only one.
- Anadil's a lesbian! She can't see herself dating a boy but more so has more interest in dating girls or non men people.
- Asher collects some newspapers for her uncle, just for him to see what deals there are. It's a guarantee that he'll at least find one good deal that seals it.
- Tawny likes fruits a lot because they're healthy and taste great! She doesn't like candy though because they're not healthy and taste gross to her. It's like eating bugs, yuck!
- Anadil's caretaker is a police officer who is also actively trying to figure out her mother's dissapearance. The difference is that he's aware of the consquences of his own doing. (Will show his appearance later)
Alrighty! Now that all of those single facts about the girls are done, i'll give facts about them all together!
- They're called the calico trio due to their hair colours being similar to an actual calico cat when next to each other.
- This is a very interesting yet obvious fact but their 'Giovanni' would be Arnold himself, again very obvious but you can wonder about how that'll go.
- Asher and Anadil have been friends since 4th grade, they met to a teacher wanting to introduce Asher to a classmate due to her not being able to fit with her peers. Just like that, they became pretty close! Who knew what would happen if they never met?
- They met Tawny later on, somewhere around 6th grade. She was pretty much given a tour on what the school routine would be like, therefore meeting Anadil and Asher along the way. They were both his first friends that she has ever had and they never realized how much she cherished them.
- If they were to meet Rick instead of the Calico Trio, the first thing Tawny would say is "Punch him" as soon as he's about to wake up when they're in a panic (which Asher does). However I think their situation would be MUCH worse than how the Neo trio handled it, it would be similar but if they went to Arnold for help then you get where this is gonna go. I do think after Rick does get help somehow, their interaction is more tame.
They are also open for QNA so feel free to ask these girls some questions!
