Shannon Garcia Set to Make Moves In the Indie World with Her Single “Spooky Action At A Distance”

Cincinnati-based indie artist, Shannon Garcia, made her musical debut April 2 with her single “Spooky Action At A Distance” which featured the lead vocalist of the band Why? The acoustic track brings soft simple beats and vocals similar to vocals heard in the super popular 90s track “Zombie” by The Cranberries.
Garcia brings haunting, dramatic lyrics in her latest single “Spooky Action At A Distance.” The soft track brings relaxation and a sense of calming while still drawing emotions with the poetic lyrics.
While the track brings a sense of wonder, Garcia said the writing was influenced by physics, as she was listening to a lecture that ended up inspiring the name of the song. Einstein’s quantum entanglement, or the ability of separated objects to share a condition or state, inspired the themes and tone of the music.
The idea of two things being interconnected by a mysterious communication channel- action at a distance- is something that inspired the group, and this mysterious quality is evident in the track.
After working with members of Why? Garcia planned on working with the guys long term and now goes by Shannon Garcia and the Taken when she performs. Garcia moved from Raleigh, NC to Cincinnati, OH where she met percussionist and backing vocalist of the indie rock group.
“Spooky Action At A Distance” is Shannon Garcia and the Taken’s first release and the third
track off of upcoming EP, fnExists. Keep an eye out for the duo’s EP which is set out soon.
