I was once asked how I came up with the themes for my journal. In which, I had to explain that my theming choice is primarily around what stickers and image tape I have on hand, or decide to buy for that matter.
More often the latter than the former, which is an issue because storage space is at a premium at the moment. However, once I decide I want a theme, I will very much stick with it, even if it means changing other plans to fit that theme (so it seems).
The month of April will be the last month I will be working in the celestial journal, simply because I have run out of room. As my everyday journal, I use it to keep track of my habits, wellness, to-do lists and memory keeping, this results in a very full journal, very quickly.
Since May is my birthday month, I decided that all the themes for that journal would be of things I really like. Such as princess themed things, hydrangea flowers, strawberries, cats and sweet things. I had also planned, because I’ve been experimenting, to move into a B5 journal. A B5 journal is much bigger than the celestial journal I’ve been working out of, but I wanted to see if that was something I would like because I have image tapes that are pretty big.
However, one of the tapes I wanted to use for July, called Strawberry Sweets, turns out to be smaller than I expected. It is a very pretty tape, but it would leave too much negative space in a B5 journal, and even an Archer and Olive square journal might be too much. In fact, it’s a tape that is best suited for an A5 journal.
Here is the thing, it is much easier (relatively) for me to change the layout or cut down an image to fit a A5 journal, than it is for me to fill up space to make a smaller image work for a B5. So, instead of using the B5 that I had ordered for May, I am going to go back and use an A5 that I already have on the shelf.
It’s silly, but having the themes I want for the next four months makes me very happy.
