The first book that I chose was Classic Typography for Contemporary Design by Tamye Riggs, what interested me about this cover was the use of multiple typefaces in conjunction which stood out as being something of a purposeful "mish-mash" and a nice way to take multiple instances of fairly generic type faces and combine them to create something contemporary and interesting.
The second book that I chose was Exposures Photography and Japan by Karen M. Fraser. I chose this book because I found the image very interesting, the use of what appeared to be two different images intrigued me and made me think about what the image actually was. I also have a tendency toward the color blue which may have aided in my choice.
The third book I chose was Aesthetics of Interaction in Digital Art by Katja Kwastek. I found the use of what is essentially black and white for the human subjects, and the use of red and blue hues to be a nice contrast which highlights the idea of worlds interacting as the title would suggest.
For my image I decided to make use of the thread common in all of the book covers, that thread being juxtaposition. Each cover I found combined elements of one or more concepts, thus I decided to simply blend all of the covers using different blending modes, with attention being paid to color unity. The final image uses reds blues and greens in a way that I do not believe to be too visually jarring. I also find that the combined image maintains the "mish-mash" idea rather well, while still being visually interesting .
