Useful tips for staying at a hotel:
Of course the rooms are cleaned after every guest, but you should still take at least a hand sanitizer with you. You have no idea what hands used, for example, the remote control and trust me, it is almost impossible to remember about cleaning every handle on the doors, shelves, and windows even if it's your job.
No matter whether you're staying just for the night or if you plan on staying for a couple of days, always clean the biggest mess, especially after eating, before heading to bed. This way you won't forget about anything that may dry up or leave unwashable stains while packing in rush and you'll gain the staff's gratitude. It can be very important.
Don't leave small, shiny objects in view, even if you sleep in the same room. They won't leave or disappear on their own - they are just things after all - but for you they may get lost forever.
Don't sing in the shower with all the strength you've got in your lungs, even if you are a great singer (or you just think you are). They sometimes like to participate, even if their voices cannot be heard.
Same thing about singing or humming in the hallways. The guests enjoy doing whatever they like in their rooms undisturbed and most of them don't like the same music as you do. Hearing someone when you're trying to sleep can be maddening, especially after a sleepless night, when you are finally safe and can close your eyes.
Above applies to the vast majority of the hotel guests. The others may decide to follow you, which is not recomended either.
If you hear something in the hallway, don't look back or you'll pull the strings. You won't feel them but if you hear something you shouldn't turn around, they have already been attached to you. Don't look back.
Don't look under your bed at day. There is nothing to look for.
Don't look under your bed at night. There is nothing you'd want to look at you.
If you drop something but you can clearly see it, just pick it up. Kneeling down and looking under the furniture is not recommended. They can wake up if they feel someone's gaze.
Don't steal the hand towels. They usually are made on hotel's request and it's neither easy nor cheap to order the next set. We understand that you want to have some souvenirs, but let's be honest, who can't afford buying their own hand towel? Besides, it's not that easy to get rid of the hotel's scent. They may follow. The smaller ones are inquisitive.
