This journey hasn't always been easy. I am two days away from my two year anniversary of having started hormone therapy. This was one of the biggest steps I took toward becoming who I am today. #livinglifeasmytrueauthenticself #transguylife #transandproud #transtwin #journeytomyself #transmanoninstagram (at Attleboro, Massachusetts)
"If it is worth doing at all, it is worth doing poorly" - Jewell Walker
Today's intention: forgiving others and myself when we do things poorly. Doing something poorly is part of the process of figuring it out.
Today's intention: actively remember that each person has something to teach me, and engage myself with each person by trying to see what his or her lesson might be.
Today, I will...
Today's intention:
Give 10 people heartfelt, sincere compliments.
If any of those people are strangers, even better.
Intentions
Today's intention: Remove competitiveness. I don't have to be the best at everything, and if someone is more successful at something or prettier or more well-liked than I am, I will be happy for that person. I will not try to justify why I'm not "at the top," nor will I feel guilty or jealous. I will be happy for each person's successes, and take myself out of the equation.
Daily Intention Challenge
My challenge for myself, for however long I stick to it, is to choose an intention for each day. Just something simple, but important.
In yoga, you come to each practice with an intention for that practice. In a rehearsal for a play, you pick an intention for that rehearsal (or class, even). You pick one or two things to focus on, maybe volume, a certain moment, etc., and don't worry about all the other problems just yet. You save those for other days.
It keeps things from getting too overwhelming.
My intention for today: Every time I have a negative thought about someone, I follow that thought up with a different thought that is complimentary about that same person.
One thing at a time.
Every person who is really an artist desires to create inside of himself another, deeper, more interesting life than the one that actually surrounds him.
