Good morning from your favorite sleepyhead ☀️
Why is homophobia/transphobia so normalized these days?
◉ Gay is used a lot as an insult. I've heard a ten year old boy say it to his sister and she was like "Noo!! I'm not gay!!" like it was such a bad thing, like he just told her that she just did something so bad like kill someone. I don't blame him for thinking like this, that's what he sees on the internet and probably at home. Their father is a "that's how life is, you have to adapt" kind of guy (the father actually said that when we were talking about the whole Trump situation and Palestine btw)
The other day I was walking to get the bus: all of a sudden I hear the f slur, said as a joke. I don't remember the whole sentence, the guy probably said it to his friend.
I can't understand how people don't get that is so wrong.
◉ "Being lgbtq+ is a choice!" Why would we choose to be discriminated against? Why would we choose to be oppressed? If it was that simple, I wouldn't be writing this, I wouldn't be lgbtq+, I wouldn't choose to be different from most people.
◉ "Pride Month is so unnecessary" Lgbtq+ have been discriminated against for so long. It used to be illegal everywhere and now it's still illegal in some places.
◉ "But why can't they just keep it for themselves?"
◈ Let's say you liked pizza but liking pizza was prohibited but you don't like pasta (the one you're "supposed to" like), you never will, you only like pizza, you suffer because you can't have it. Wouldn't it be better to be able to like pizza and eat pizza rather than suffer in silence?
◈ Or let's say you are born and you are told you are supposed to have an haircut for the rest of your life, but you don't like that haircut. You see other people that have the other haircut, you think how much it would fit and how much you feel like yourself with that haircut. But you can't have the one you want because people find it wrong and disgusting to want to change haircuts. However, you would love to change it because if you don't, you suffer. Wouldn't it be better to rebel rather than suffer in silence?
◉ "LGB without TQ+" Trans people fought for your rights too. And it's not like Conservatives will side with you because you cut out Trans&co people, they'll come for you next. They're not your friends and never will.
◉ Homophobia and transphobia are just as bad racism and ableism. That's also why any minority that hates on another minority is stupid: they know how it is to be discriminated against yet they discriminate against another minority. So stupid.
I think I've said everything I had to.
Heartmilheart out 👋
(PS: Happy Pride Month)

@blakely0_0 “Yes, yes...I know..another shirtless picture BUT about 4 years ago (October) when I was looking for people who look like me, I couldn't find them. . I CANT relate to dudes whose always been under 100lbs and NEVER had to bind because let's be honest...the struggle is NOT the same . So I stay visible and shirtless.” . . . . . #motivation #fitness #fitnesstransformation #leanmuscle #bulk #musclemass #deadlift #standout #standup #bodytransformation #transmasculine #weightlossjourney #mindovermatter #explorepage #transandshirtless #ftmathlete #ftmtransition #transmanofinstagram #transandproud #blackpride #blm https://www.instagram.com/p/CUqR2ilhCqT/?utm_medium=tumblr
