“That was beautiful, Jo. Absolutely beautiful.” He said. 

“Want me to sign your playbill?”

“You can do it later. At home. I’ll let all these other people through.”

“Alright.”

“That was really amazing. Wow, I love you actually.”

The two paused. 

“Sorry, that was awkward.” Is what David said. 

It’s true, is what he thought, I’m totally in love with you.

“Dave. Dave. David.” JoJo poked David’s shoulder. 

“Yes?”

“I start rehearsals tomorrow.”

“So you’ve said. A million times.”

“I’m so excited! We should order dinner to celebrate!”

“Go ahead.” David shrugged and pulled a red pen out of his pocket to start grading his students’ research papers. 

“I want to spend time with you! I want to tell you about my show. Please stop working for a minute.” JoJo made a sad little frown and tilted his head. 

“I can’t, I-“

“I could be singing Hamilton to convince you right now and I’m not.”

“I’m sorry, Jo.”

JoJo grabbed David’s pen from his hand. “Now you have to.”

“Can I have that back?”

“No.” JoJo grinned. 

“Please?”

“Come and get it.” JoJo jumped up and ran across the room, holding the pen as if it was some great prize. 

David walked slowly over to JoJo, pretending he was maybe not going to fight for it. 

He took a grab for the pen, but JoJo was faster. He yanked his hand away, extending it behind him. 

“Give it back you little-“

“Never! It’s mine now!”

“We will be broke if I don’t grade those papers, Jorgelino.”

“You seem to have forgotten that I’ve been cast in a lead role on Broadway, David. I’m gonna make good money.”

“Pen!”

“No!”

“Pen please?” 

JoJo lowered his hand. 

“Only if you promise you’ll be with me tonight instead of work.”

David sighed. “Fine. Sure thing.”

JoJo handed David the pen.

“What do you want to order for food?” David asked. 

JoJo cracked a smile. “I already ordered from that Thai place you like, and I rented a movie too. I just had to convince you do you wouldn’t be mad.”

“You- what movie?”

“Spider-Man: No Way Home. Tom Holland as to cater to your preference.”

“You know you agree he’s gorgeous.”

“I dunno. He kinda looks like you, a little bit.”

Does JoJo think I’m gorgeous? David wondered. I kind of hope so.
