I do think that the SW degree is necessary for most people who want to get into the field. I agree with you about the burned out, terrible social workers - but the education can be invaluable in terms of learning how to deal with the whole big social work world.
Thanks for your response/input. I agree that it's invaluable... in fact I've already stated that. However, I think experience in a related field or just life experience can also be invaluable. I don't regret going to school and getting my BSW, and I may someday get my MSW, so don't get me wrong, I think education is important. My main point/issue is pointing fingers and judging based solely on amount of education.
