A delicious dessert for the holidays that combines peppermint, cream cheese, and chocolate in every layer. Ideal for joyous events!
Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups chocolate cookie crumbs. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted. 8 oz cream cheese, softened. 1 cup powdered sugar. 2 cups whipped topping e.g., Cool Whip. 1 tsp peppermint extract. 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies or candy canes. 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips. 1/4 cup white chocolate chips. 1/4 cup heavy cream.
Instructions: In a bowl, mix the chocolate cookie crumbs and melted butter until well combined. Press the cookie mixture into the bottom of a 9x9 inch square pan to form the crust. In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until creamy. Add the powdered sugar and peppermint extract to the cream cheese, and mix until smooth. Fold in 1 cup of whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cookie crust in the pan. Sprinkle the crushed peppermint candies over the cream cheese layer. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips with half of the heavy cream in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the peppermint candies layer. In another microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips with the remaining heavy cream using the same method as before. Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the semi-sweet chocolate layer. Chill the dessert in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until set. Before serving, spread the remaining whipped topping on top of the chilled dessert. Garnish with additional crushed peppermint candies or candy canes, if desired. Slice and serve this delicious layered peppermint holiday dessert!
