The squeaky hinges of the front door Darrel Sr. Always swore he'd "fix next week" (Darry would then come to complain about it years later, saying the same thing his father once had)
The crayon and marker stains underneath the table from when Soda and Pony were in elementary school (They made it as a surprise for their parents, safe to say Mr and Mrs. C weren't very happy when they came together for dinner that night)
The patched up hole in the wall from Steve smashing Two-bit's head in after wrestling gone wrong (Mrs. C had to take him to get stitches in urgent care that night)
The multiple colorful lines on the doorway varying in height (The gang used to compare heights while growing up and Mrs. C would complain about "Messing up the Doorway" but still look at them with fondness in her eyes and no heat to her words)
The broken blinds of the living room window, victim of a badly thrown football inside the how (Darry got grounded for a week)
The glued back together lamp next to the couch that had fallen after an argument between Ponyboy and his parents (He'd been lying and sassing them all week, and forgetting the frosting had been their last straw)
The chipped coffee table Pony had accidentally pushed out the way after stumbling from the force of darry's palm (Darry then shoved the table to the side while hysterically apologizing to Pony, who had dashed out the door)
The scratches in the floor after Soda suddenly stood up during dinner, hastily getting out his chair and through the door, scraping the legs of the chair as he stood (there were two other faint ones in Darry and Pony's spot after they ran after him)
There are so many things that makes the Curtis household what it is, even if it doesn't look pretty, it holds lifetimes of memories. Memories of a young couple with their 7 sons (even if they aren't all related by blood)
The hinges of the front door still squeaked, even as the final curtis took his last breath.
